Curt Agne stared at the individual in front of him with a weary expression, mentally drained from the conversation that is taking place. About an hour ago, Syn had come into his office and told him, in the calmest way he’s ever seen any wrestler do so, that he, as well as Kai, were heavily contemplating singing contracts with a new wrestling promotion, Libertarian Wrestling. Naturally, he was against it. Syn was his World Champion and by competing in another company, he not only ran the risk of burning himself out, but potentially getting himself injured as well. For the last hour, he tried to talk Syn out of it, but in the end Syn had an argument for every point he tried to make. And to make matters worse, he couldn’t find a hole to poke into his argument! He just sighed, glancing at Syn as he smirked at him.
Curt: Syn, all I’m trying to do is look out for your best interests. You may not care about what happens to you, but you are a –
Syn cuts Curt off abruptly.
Syn: (In a very bored tone of voice) -valuable asset to the growth of this company. You’ve, uh, repeated this phrase at least 30 times within the last 10 minutes. And like I said Curt, I’m not leaving here, so I really don’t see why you want to talk me out of doing this, especially when I shot down every argument you had.
Curt gave an exhausted sigh. Clearly Syn was dead set on competing in this company. For what reason, only Syn himself knew.
Curt: Alright Syn. As much as it pains me to say it, you have a valid argument as to why you can signed with Libertarian Wrestling. So I’ll give you and Kai my blessing. But just promise me that no matter what, you won’t let this get in the way of your duties as champion here in WKF.
Syn leaned back slightly, a cold smile on his face as he stares a hole into The General Manager.
Syn: You seem to not have that much faith in me as Champion Curt, despite the fact that I’ve proven to be a very (Syn pauses) reliable champion.
Curt sighs in frustration.
Curt: It’s not that I don’t have any faith in you Syn. But I’ve been in this business a long time, and I’ve learned that not everyone can be trusted the hard way. I’ve had guys walk out on me who promised that they would never leave, and right when I need them the most. I don’t feel like having that same mistake made again and my trust shattered once more, especially with the man I trust my company to.
Syn was emotionless after Agne finished his reasoning. He was silent for a few moments, and then gave a brief chuckle, to the confusion of Curt.
Syn: Well Curt, you don’t have to, uh, worry about that with me. I told you from day one that as despicable as I may be, I’m always a man of my word. You, better than anyone, should know thaaaaaaaat.
Syn stands up abruptly, takes his title off of the desk, and walks out of the office. He walks down the long hallway leading back to his locker room, smirking as a few road agents quickly scurry out of his way. He stops about 5 minutes later in front of a room, before opening it. Inside was his younger brother, Kai, leaning against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest and a cold, piercing look on his face.
Kai: So, how did the old man take it?
Syn sat down in the chair in the middle of the room.
Syn: He took it as well as any promoter who just found out that two of his top talents want to sign to another company. Especially considering that one of them holds his world title. But in the end, he managed to see things my way.
Kai: I see. So when do we…”Talk” with the man in charge of LW?
Syn pauses and thinks on it for a second, trying to think of a good opportunity to have this meeting. Finally, he speaks.
Syn: Hmm. Neither of us has anything planned for next week. So I guess we make it a priority to go to the headquarters.
Kai: (In agreement) Hn.
The room went silent after that, with both brothers deep in thought. Syn glanced down at the World title in his lap, and brushed a hand over the title, stopping at the Glasgow smile he had carved into it just a day after winning it. It was an accomplishment that, while he doesn’t say it aloud, he is very proud of. In the 3 short months he has been in WKF, he has managed to gain notoriety in the wrestling world through his actions: He had ended careers, he had been beaten within an inch of his life, and he had used, abused, and ultimately betrayed the few whom considered him an ally, all with a smile on his face. He had virtually taken over WKF, mind body and soul, Resistance or no Resistance. Now, he wanted to repeat the process in a different setting. The two stayed silent for a while longer, then, finally, both decided to leave, wondering what next week will bring when they go to the Libertarian Wrestling Headquarters.
------------------------------------------------- 1 week later -------------------------------------------------------------------------
We cut back in with Syn calmly sat in the lobby of LW’s Headquarters, Wearing a dark hoodie (to keep his face hidden for the most part) black jeans and black sneakers, staring blankly out into space as he waited. He and Kai had been in the small building for about 20 minutes, waiting their turn for their appointment with the owner of the company, and had down two things in that timeframe: Gotten very bored, and un-nerve the poor secretary to the point where she’s considered calling security at one point for protection. A few more moments passed, then, finally, the door opened and someone walked out.
Man: It was great doing business with you Mr. Hawkins!
The secretary looked up uneasily at the two brothers, still a bit creeped out by Kai’s stoicism and Syn’s icy stare.
Secretary: M-Mr. Hawkins will see you now.
Both stood up (Syn flashing the secretary an unpleasant smile), and walked into the office. Syn’s eyes lock onto the man sitting at the desk, who looked like an everyday office temp: same boring suit, tie, and everything. Leo looked at both Syn and Kai, before smiling.
Leo: Ah, I’ve been expecting you two! Please, have a seat, we have much to discuss.
Syn and Kai sit down, Syn not taking his eyes off Hawkins as he continued to speak
Leo: Now, I’ll be honest with you boys. I was a bit surprised when my secretary told me that you two had called and wanted in; because it’s not everyday that the world champion of another company and one of their top signings both want to sign with another company.
Leo locked eyes with Syn , who just stared back
Leo: And to be honest, I’m more than a bit suspicious about your reasoning. So, if you would be so kind as to explain why it is you want to sign to my company? And why both of you?
Syn frowned at the second question, but answered it first.
Syn: We come as a package deal. We may team up on occasion, we may not. That’s just the way we (Syn clicks his teeth with his tongue, then smirks) operate.
Kai nodded, agreeing with Syn. Leo accepted the answer.
Leo: And the first part of the question Syn?
Syn had to smirk at this. It seems as though Leo has either watched, or at the very least heard something about he and Kai, but is trying hard not to let it show too much. This may be more fun than he anticipated.
Syn: Why of course. (Syn leans forward slightly) You see, while I’ve achieved much in the short time I’ve been a wrestler, but I still feel that I’m very inexperienced, and to a degree I am. I feel as though competing more may help me with that little problem. As the world champion in WKF I see many challengers, but it never hurts to try my hand in another company.
Leo turned to Kai
Leo: And you?
Kai gave a small smirk
Kai: It’s very simple Mr. Hawkins. My reason for being in LW is to prove to the world that I am the best wrestler in the world today. (Leo raised a brow at the answer) I’ve proved myself in Japan when I competed in the Super J Cup, but here in the states, I need to validate that.
Leo gave both brothers a piercing look, a look that Syn returned with a smirk, not at all flinching away from Leo’s stare. While Kai’s reasons may very well be valid (He was sure they were at least), it was obvious that Leo knew there was more to Syn simply wanting to improve , but he decided not to comment on it (Well, not right now anyway) and continue with the meeting.
Leo: Alright then. Despite what I have heard of you two, particularly you Syn (Syn twitched slightly, but gave no other reaction), I can see the two of you as members of the LW roster. Syn, you’ve proven that you can carry a company as champion, (Leo gains a slightly disbelieving tone to his voice) as inexperienced as you may be. And Kai would be an excellent addition to our roster. All that is left to do is sign the contracts and you two will be officially on the roster.
He opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out two contracts, before laying them on the desk. Syn and Kai both picked up the contracts and read them over, glancing at Leo every now and then. Syn gave a devilish smile after he finished
Syn: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell, there’s no time like the present.
He quickly pulled an ink pen out of his hoodie, and placed the contract on the desk, skimmed over the contract one more time, and then signed his name onto the dotted line. He calmly passes the pen over to Kai, who also signed his own contract. They handed them back to Leo, who smiled.
Leo: I think we’re all done here. Congratulations gentlemen, you are now members of the Libertarian Roster.
Leo stood up and extended his hand, which Syn shook.
Leo: I thank you both for your time
Syn: No no no, it’s us who should be thanking you…Mr. Hawkins.
The two stood up and went to the door to leave, when Leo called out.
Leo: Oh, and Syn (Syn stopped, but didn’t turn around). While on the roster, I would think long and hard before doing anything that you may regret. I may cost you dearly.
Syn stands there for a moment, then slowly turned around.
Syn: I would take that to heart, Mr. Hawkins, but there’s one small detail that prevents me from doing so: (Syn gives an evil smirk) I don’t HAVE any regrets.
And with that, Syn left the office to catch up with Kai. He walked down to the lobby, past the receptionist, and out the doors leading out of the building. Seeing Kai had already gotten the car, he walked over and got into the passenger’s seat as they drove off. Syn turned and looked at Kai, that smirk still on his face.
Syn: So, it’s official little brother. On August 11th, it begins.
Syn started giggling, then let out a shrill laugh as he thought of all that he may do in this new company when he made his debut.
-------------------------------------------- (1 Week later) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The scene starts with Syn and Alisyn walking in silence. Syn had made a surprise visit to Alisyn during a PWW autograph signing after she had had words with The Black Rose Mafia’s Talia Skye, as well as make a “Business Deal” with Toxic’s Morgan Simmons on Alisyn’s behalf, and all of this was just last week. Syn had decided to drop in on Alisyn again while in town, and Syn had surprisingly suggested going to a diner. Alisyn had looked thoughtful of something as they walked into a diner: Syn had been acting out of character for the last week. Now that she thought about it, he never told her exactly why he had visited. The two sat down and, after thinking it over for a few moments, Alisyn finally voiced her question.
Alisyn: Um, Syn.
Syn had picked up a menu and was browsing, before ordering a cup of coffee
Syn: Hn?
Alisyn looked a bit hesitant to ask the question. While Syn has never been violent towards her in any way, she was nervous about what may happen if she asked Syn any personal questions.
Alisyn: Why exactly did you come down here to visit me? (Syn freezes) Not that I’m not pleased to see you, it’s just that you have a match on Friday and I thought you would want to rest up a bit before then.
Syn didn’t say or do anything for a few moments; he didn’t even look like he was breathing. Alisyn began to panic a bit, thinking that she had somehow offended her mentor, when he started chuckling lightly.
Syn: Ah, Alisyn, thank you for reminding me.
Alisyn: Um, reminding you of what?
Syn: That there is something I had to, uh, discuss with you.
Alisyn gives Syn a rare look of confusion as he pulls something out of his coat pocket and slides it over to her. She carefully picks it up and reads it, and her look of confusion turns into one of shock, then one of delight. She looks at Syn, who has a smirk on his face.
Alisyn: You signed with Libertarian Wrestling?
Syn: Yes, and so did Kai (Syn puts the menu down and leans forward slightly) but that’s not entirely what I want to talk to you about. You see Alisyn, I think while I don’t particularly need a manager (Syn pauses as Alisyn’s eyes widen) you would benefit more from actually seeing me compete in person rather than me just talking mindlessly about my experiences.
Alisyn was stunned speechless by what Syn was offering her. She was so stunned than she almost didn’t notice Syn had leaned over the table further and was just mere centimeters away from her.
Syn: So, do you accept?
She blushed slightly, then gave a slow nod, accepting Syn’s offer to be his valet. Syn just gave a sly grin. He went to say something, when someone from one table over decided to make himself known.
? : Excuse me, Syn?
Syn froze, then growled lightly for a moment. He slowly turned around, and looked at the man who had interrupted him. He was dressed in casual clothes and wore what looked like reading glasses, but Syn could tell from the way that the man held himself that he either is, or was a reporter. And Syn hates reporters with a passion.
Syn: Can I, uh, help you?
The man smiled weakly at the looks he was getting from Syn and Alisyn, fully aware that the two for them were not exactly happy with having their conversation overheard or interrupted.
: Well, I’m Richard Hayden. I’m a freelance reporter who covers stories for the “Wrestle-Net” news site. I know that you aren’t exactly a fan of journalism, but I just want a few moments of your time.
Syn stared blankly at the man in front of him for a few moments, before speaking slowly.
Syn: No.
Richard:But if I could-
Syn: I believe I just said no. Politely, I might add since I’m out in public with my protégé, which is a rarity on my part. Any further attempts to change my mind and…well, let’s just say that I’ll cease to be polite. I know you’ve done your, uh, homework on me, so I think you have a picture in mind of what will happen when I stop being polite.
Richard got the hint and quickly left the two alone. Syn stares in his direction for a few more moments, then sat back down. Alisyn decided to quickly change the subject.
Alisyn: Syn (Syn turns to her), if you’ve signed to Libertarian Wrestling, shouldn’t you have gotten a match-card to see if you’re competing?
Syn smiles slightly.
Syn: I have. I’m in a triple threat match to crown LW’s first Freedom Champion. (Syn looks down at the table, contemplating) But that isn’t the kicker Alisyn: The kicker is that out of all 3 people in this match, I am the least experienced wrestler of the three of us. But at the same time, by not being around as long as the other two, I have one advantage over them that is a bit….unconventional. Do you know what that is Alisyn? Hmm?
Syn watched as Alisyn thought it over for a few short moments, before looking at him.
Alisyn: Since you haven’t been around as long as they have, there is less of you to study. Combine this with your style of wrestling and mentality; this already makes you really hard to prepare for.
Syn gave her a smile
Syn: Very good! Now, onto my, uh, opponents. One is a part of one of the most celebrated tandems in wrestling history, and the other is a man who, by all accounts has all the skills, but can’t seem to use them effectively in the ring when it counts the most.
Syn rolls his neck, cracking it
Syn: Let’s start off with Liam Reilly then. You see, I don’t really know all that much about him other than word of mouth Alisyn, but let’s see if I get the general picture Hmm? He was born into the lap of luxury in the United Kingdom. He never had a want that he could get or a worry in the world. But that couldn’t help him in the ring, now could it? No, it didn’t. He had to find out the hard way that money can’t help you when you decide to venture in a career inside the ring when it comes to a victory or respect. It will only hurt you in the long-run.
Syn’s order of coffee arrives
Syn: Now, I’ll give him all the credit in the world for realizing all of this and striving to better himself. But he maaaaaaaaaaaaaay have had his realization a tad too late. (Syn stares into his cup of coffee) in a few days time, he is stepping into the biggest matchup of his career against someone many consider a legend, and a reigning world champion. Now, from what I understand, in the past he had problems in the ring when it came to a regular match. How will he do in a high stakes match, where the pressure is on him to perform at his highest level? (Syn looks up) Not. Very. Well.
Syn takes a small sip of his coffee while Alisyn takes all of this in.
Alisyn: It sounds like you have a game plan in mind for Reilly, but who is the other man in the match?
Syn puts down his coffee and smirks
Syn: J.T Banks.
Alisyn’s reaction was to be expected, considering who J.T. was involved with: She rolled her eyes and muttered something to the effect of “Wallflowers” under her breath. Syn chuckled.
Syn: I take it you’re still not a fan of Miss Skye or her, uh, followers, are you?
Alisyn: No. I still find her to be the most boring champion I’ve seen. I’ve chalked it up to her becoming complacent because she’s champion, but I don’t see what it is that everyone else seems to see in her at all.
Syn shakes his head in amusement at his protégé’s words
Syn: While she may not be as exciting as she used to be Alisyn, she’s still very talented and very high on my list of names to conquer. But that’s for another time and match.
Alisyn is flushed at causing Syn to go off subject, and mutters a quick apology as Syn continues.
Syn: Thank you. Now, onto J.T. Banks. 1 half of one of the most dominant tag teams in history, and trained by arguably one of the greatest of all time, the most experienced man in this match. And probably the toughest man in the locker room. By looking at those facts, anyone would think that he is the surefire winner in this match. (Syn smirks darkly) But then again, he’s stepping out of his comfort zone of being a predominantly tag team wrestler. Will this affect him, maybe it will, and maybe it won’t. But seeing as how he hasn’t been a singles wrestler since January, he may have a few….”Surprises” in store for him in that match.
Syn went to drink his coffee, when Alisyn spoke again.
Alisyn: I’m surprised that you’ve stuck to just analyzing his strengths and weaknesses and haven’t said anything about his overblown ego yet.
Syn paused, slowly put the coffee down, and gave a smile.
Syn: That’s because it would be entirely too easy to just talk or insult someone, Alisyn. It would be too easy to insult a company that’s only 3 months old who sign more beginners more than the next guy. It wouldn’t be a challenge to look up someone’s bio on a computer and say, word for word, what’s written inside in a promo. And it’s too easy to brag about how out of the 3 of us, I’m the only one who win, lose, or draw, is guaranteed to walk out of our match with 15 pounds of gold around my waist. I could say all of that, because it’s true, but I choose not to. And do you know why?
Alisyn shook her head, causing Syn to chuckle
Syn: Because words don’t mean anything unless they’re broadcasting an injury or declaring you the winner. Anything else is just someone talking out of his ass.
Syn picks up his coffee and closed his eyes.
Syn: In less than a week’s time, the three of us meet in to crown the inaugural champion of Libertarian Wrestling. And when that time comes, the outcome will shape the path of this company. And if I win….well, let’s just say that the path of this company will become very bleak, very dismal, and very, VERY dark. Hehehehehe. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The screen fades to black as Syn continues to laugh insanely
Syn: -HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! HEHEHEAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
