OOC: Everything said is strictly in character.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-The scene opens up with Kai in a ring, stalking an opponent as he staggered back to his feet. He turns around and right into Kai, who grabs his arm and forces him to the ground, before locking in the Crossface! The Opponent screams in pain, trying desperately to reach the ropes, but Kai just applies more pressure to the hold. He reaches out once more, before tapping out to the crossface, ending the match-up! Kai release the hold after about another minute (Just to make sure the guy STAYED down), as the Japan crowd roared in appreciation for the effort of the two men. Kai didn’t stick around very long after his victory, quickly exiting the ring and heading backstage, acknowledging the fans as he left to the back and the camera fades.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The scene re-opened with Kai sitting his a locker room in Tokyo, Japan, dressed to compete and un-taping his wrists and hands, having been done wrestling for the night. He had decided last week to make a special return to Japan in order to shake off any ring-rust he may have had. He had competed 4 times while there, and managed to win a highly contested contest just a few moments earlier via Submission, which was his final match before he was scheduled to return to the states. Feeling the appreciation from the crowd (In contrast to the hatred he was slowly getting used to over the last month) was a feeling that he has long since forgotten since leaving Japan, and re-living it again had brought up a lot of memories. He had come to Japan when he was 17 to gain more experience, exposure, and to better himself as a wrestler. Less than a year after he arrived, he was competing in The Super J-Cup tournament, making it to the semi finals. He may not have won, but his career launched after that. He snapped out of his reminiscing after he heard the door opening, and in walked in an old friend, Jun.
Jun: Well well, it seems as though someone hasn’t lost a step since going back to the states.
Kai gave a small nod of acknowledgement to Jun, who had been one of the first people to welcome him to Japan when he came here all those years ago. Whenever he’s in Japan, he always stays with Jun and his family.
Kai: It’s not like I’ve stopped wrestling Jun. I always perform at a high level. Even if -
Jun: Even IF you haven’t wrestled in over 2 months?
Kai frowned, then reached for the towel nearest to him and began wiping off his facepaint.
Kai: Yes, even if I haven’t wrestled in over two months. I think what I’ve done in the ring tonight will say more than anything I can tell you.
Jun shrugged
Jun: Yes. Yes they can. I’m just a bit surprised that even though you’ve been out of the ring for a few months (Not counting a few brawls) that you’re still as good as you were right before you left Japan 4 months ago, if not a little better.
Kai continues to wipe off the facepaint
Kai: But you say that as if I stay out of the ring all together Jun. As much as I train daily, I can’t afford to lose a step in the ring.
Jun walked over to the chair next to Kai and sat down, smiling.
Jun: Yes, you’re usually the first person in the arena and the last one to leave, which is why only I put up with you (Kai snorts beneath the towel, not noticing Jun’s smile turn into a frown) but after watching what you have been doing over the past month and a half, I have to admit that you have me a bit worried….Alex.
Kai froze. The only time that Jun would ever call him by his birth name is on the rare occasion that he was serious. And judging by his tone, this was one of those rare times. He slowly put the towel down and gave Jun his full, undivided attention.
Jun: I understand the devotion to family very well. My father, although we are very different in how we view things, is someone I am proud to follow. But with you…I sorry to say, but I have no earthly idea on how you can willingly align yourself with your brother –
Kai cuts Jun off
Kai: There’s nothing TO understand Jun. He’s my older brother. Wherever he goes, I won’t be too far behind to aid him. Now drop it.
Jun gazed at Kai for a moment, likely wanting to press the issue further, but one look into Kai’s eyes and Jun signed in defeat. He would bring it up at another time.
Jun: Fine, I’ll let it go for now.
Kai doesn’t say anything for a moment, before looking over at Jun.
Kai: I’ll be done in a bit. You don’t have to wait around here
Jun takes that as his cue to leave the locker room, knowing it wouldn’t be a long wait for Kai to get ready to leave. Kai sat there for a moment, before sighing in frustration. In this industry, friends were a luxury that he didn’t particularly have, want, or need. Jun was a closest thing to a friend he had, but it wasn’t any of his business on who he did or didn’t associate with. Syn may be as vile as they come, but he has never stopped being his older brother. He brought him to WKF right when he returned from the states, lobbying for Curt Agne to sign him. That alone is reason for him to be by Syn’s side. Kai thought on the matter for a few more moments, then snapped out of it and continued to get ready to leave.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20 minutes later, Jun and Kai were in Jun’s car, driving back to Jun’s home. While driving, Jun has started questioning Kai about Libertarian Wrestling.
Jun: I’ve heard about them, but only from some of the other wrestlers in the locker room. Seeing as how you’re on the actual roster, I thought you would know something.
Kai gazed out of the window, watching the scenery pass them by as they drove onward.
Kai: I don’t know anything about what the company is like, if that’s what you’re asking me. All I know are the names of a few other wrestlers who have signed, and the match card that has been given to everyone in a match on the debut show.
Jun: Names like?
Kai: (sighs) Other than myself, Epick, Syn and Alisyn? Names like JT Banks, DLK, Ryan Robinson, Liam Reilly, and Talia Sky, and Danielle Lopez. (Kai gives a small smirk) All are names that I look forward to one day facing, and defeating in the middle of the ring.
Jun: You haven’t lost much in the way of confidence Kai.
Kai gives Jun a blank stare
Kai: What good is it if you know you’re good when you don’t think you’re capable of defeating any adversary that stands before you?
Jun shrugs, agreeing with Kai’s logic. He then takes a left turn and stops at a stoplight, before continuing the conversation.
Jun: Hmm. Interesting. All 4 members of your Disciples of Syn are in LW.
Kai turned and gave Jun a stern look
Kai: I know what you're thinking, and I don't know. So far, Syn has kept tight lipped about whatever his plans for LW really are.
Jun shrugged as the light turned green.
Jun: Hmm, alright then…so,who has the unlucky task of being your first opponent?
Kai: Someone by the name of Jill Cruz.
Jun: Interesting. What do you know about her?
Kai: Spoiled rich kid who gets her way and who wants to be a wrestler.
Kai seems to be getting a bit angry as he thinks on it.
Kai: You know something Jun, I’ve been a wrestler for all of about 6 years now. For 6 years, I’ve put my own health to the wayside and competed in various matches that have scared me physically, mentally, and have taken years off of not just my career, but my life as well. I’ve competed in venues in front of tens of thousands of fans, and in front of as few as 50. (Kai chuckles bitterly) I’ve even put off surgery that I desperately needed at the time, all in order to wrestle. Why? Because for the last 6 years, it’s been something that I do better than most. (Kai shifts a bit so that he is looking at Jun) In fact, it’s something that I do better than anyone in the world. And I worked harder than most in this industry are willing to in order to grab every bit of success that I’ve attained.
Jun knew where Kai's line of thought was going
Jun: And, from the way she sounds, your opponent has had everything handed to her since birth.
Kai glares out of the window, a scowl on his face as he thought of his opponent.
Kai: Yes, thats it exactly. She doesn’t know what some go through for this business. The personal sacrifice, the injury, the love of this industry, all of it. She’s building off the hard work and passion that REAL wrestlers have in hope of garnering the attention of Hollywood. And the women thinks that I’ll simply roll over and die all because she because she wants it. That I’ll end up making the rookie mistake of underestimating her just because she’s a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter than me.
Kai’s anger was blazing by this point. However he may appear to be to other people, whether he was alone, with The Disciples of Syn, or with Syn himself, he didn’t really care. But to see someone using the one thing he was passionate about just to try and get a taste of the glitz and the glamour was something he DOES NOT tolerate. Jun didn’t look too happy after hearing this information either.
Jun: So, what is your plan for her? (Kai glances over at Jun) I’ve known you long enough to know that you are the type that enjoys making your opponent suffer some sort of humiliation.
Kai gave the briefest of smiles, but it was a dark one that promised much pain being in someone's future.
Kai: Well, in just a few short days time, I return to the states, and I make my debut in Libertarian Wrestling. And I don’t plan on losing. What I plan on doing is fairly simple: I plan on giving the spoiled little princess who wants to play wrestler a few lessons in humility and a very painful reality check, in the form of my boot in her chin and a Crossface.
After speaking, Kai gave a dark chuckle as he and Jun drove home. Yes, the more that he was looking forward to his Debut now more than ever. The scene fades to black as Kai abruptly stops chuckling and stares blankly as the drive continues.
