True Honor Wrestling! I hold our sister company in such high regard, and I always love to tune in and follow what goes on there. I even frequently call in on the radio show the owner hosts. Why do you ask? How could you not? With so many talented folks there such as Gabbi Sparks, Jakob Alexander, my opponent Joshua Curtis…who I will get to in a moment…Miranda Rivers, and Jay Swift, how could I NOT be a fan of the place. Hell, even Spirit Z is pretty damn talented and we don’t even like each other. And you got the two members who are on both rosters, Jerry Matthews and THW World Champion Marina Valdivia, both of which are pretty indifferent about me personally, but they are two of the most competitive people on both rosters. And I don’t know if a whole lot of you noticed, but I am dating a member of the roster, even though her contract will be up after this show.
That’s the reason I accepted this opportunity, for those of you wondering why the PCW World Heavyweight Champion would want to be in a mid-card match in a wrestling company he isn’t even employed in. Ryan Dangerous is a good guy and personally asked me if I wanted to take my week off in PCW to go ahead and participate in THW’s first pay per view of the year, Honorable Mention. Well, that and the fact that I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of the Booze Cruise. And like I said, this is a great company with a stacked roster and they put out great shows like clockwork. I’m thrilled to be a part of this really awesome show. I mean, you think I was going to miss Marina try to defend the World Title twice in one night? Not on my life!
But enough of me being starry-eyed kid in the candy store just standing in awe of THW. Because I’m not just some kid coming into town to just “participate” and be happy about it. My opponent knows that. I believe his reaction was “Aw F**K”. That’s actually quite flattering and probably a first for my career. When I look back at the humble beginnings in my career, that makes a moment when your opponent actually shouts profanity in shock all the more meaningful. It makes all the fighting and clawing up the ladder for so many years worth it all in the end.
But when I look at Joshua Curtis, I see a rising star. I’m not even sure if he realizes that yet. I saw him choke out Randy Reaume and I thought to myself, “This guy is pretty good.” I’m very impressed with him, which makes me all the more enthusiastic about being in the ring with him because I’m the type of guy that thrives on facing the best. I want matches with some great opponents. And more importantly, I want GREAT matches with said opponents. So Joshua Curtis, what I want from you is to bring everything you got. Because even though this match is stuck in the middle of the card, I want everyone who watches this match, from the fans, the other THW stars watching from the locker room, the PCWers watching on their televisions, the announce team, hell EVEN THE DAMN REFEREE, I want this match to memorable to them. I want them to watch our match and see two men who entered it, gave it everything they had, and put on the show.
Ignore my World Championship. Our match has nothing to do with the fact I’m the PCW World Heavyweight Champion. We’re not having our match in PCW. My title isn’t sanctioned here in THW. To you, I’m just Adrien Cochrane. But I will say this about it. Think about what this will do for you if you show up. I’m not even saying you have to win. But think about what would happen if you showed everyone in THW that you were able to hold your own to the PCW World Heavyweight Champion. Josh, this is a chance for you to really impress people. I look at you and see the future of THW. Don’t let me down.
“Is it just me, or does it seem like home field advantage helps a lot in these inter-promotional matches?”
[Adrien Cochrane looks up from his desk, turns to see Aurora Rose, one of his PCW allies, in the doorway. Aurora Rose is one of three of the PCW wrestlers that Adrien mentors and helps train, and one of two that actually live with him, the non-resident being Jakob Alexander’s little brother, Michael.]
Adrien: “What are you, my manager?”
[Aurora Rose rolls her eyes before entering the room. The champ turns his chair to face his friend to see what’s on her mind.]
Aurora: “Well, this about this, Jakob Alexander hasn’t had too much success when crossing over to PCW, the battle royal last THW Honor Role had just as many PCW stars in it and ended up with THW’s Spirit Z winning it all, Jay Thunder got utterly destroyed by Marina, and Jerry hasn’t had any luck yet in THW.”
Adrien: “Did you channel the spirit of Richelle Ross or something? Besides, you’re forgetting about Marina tearing apart PCW despite being THW.”
Aurora: “Well, she’s the exception to the rule.”
[Adrien started to give it some thought. She was right though. Jerry Matthews has a couple of victories in THW, but nothing really substantial yet even though he’s the PCW Platinum Champion. Jakob Alexander finished his PCW tenure with a 1-3 record but in THW, he’s the Evolution Champion. Jay Thunder has one of top five win totals in PCW history and is the PCW Broadcast Champion and even with interference on his side, he still couldn’t dethrone Marina Valdivia. Several people from PCW got a loss in last Honor Role’s battle royal, including pre-champion Adrien, when Spirit Z ended up getting the big victory and going on to win the International Championship.]
Aurora: “So you’re not exactly going with the odds.”
[But that sentence didn’t discourage Adrien. Most would hear those words in panic, but not Adrien Cochrane. The Dropkick King only smiles once he hears Aurora’s announcement of the odds being against him.]
Adrien: “Aren’t they always? Think about it. That handicap match against Syn and Yoshiru Long, the Trans-Atlantic Cup Tournament, facing five PCW Hall of Famers and getting victories over all five of them within my first year in the company.”
Aurora: “You do have a tendency to beat the odds.”
Adrien: “And this is something you and the other two to remember. When you enter a ring, throw out the record books, the championships, the Hall of Fame status of your opponent, winning streak, all of that crap. It means absolutely nothing. You enter that ring with another human being, another person, with their own skill set and abilities along with their one weaknesses and flaws. You’re up against someone with a strategy that can either work for them or be exploited by you just as much as your strategy can go either way. Anyone can win against anyone any given day. Even Chris down there could pull off an upset over Heather Monroe if he plays his cards right.”
Aurora: “I think he’s more worried at pulling off an upset and getting revenge against Curtis Wilkes.”
Adrien: “Heh, Chris is a bit of a vengeful little bastard.”
[Chris “The Flith” Marks was the other PCW wrestler Adrien has been training, and the only one he accepted into his circle against his will. Chris is the more arrogant, selfish, and a bit of the vile side of the group. He’s a former criminal who had a short stint in the WWA while Adrien was there and the two had a few less-than-friendly encounters but nothing major. But when Chris was in trouble and had no one else to turn to, Adrien took him in. Chris has grown a bit to Adrien mostly because Chris has his moments of entertainment and deep down inside, behind all the profanity and sarcasm, Adrien knows Chris appreciates what Adrien has done for him.]
Aurora: “That he is. And I hope he gets it.”
[Adrien just remembered that Chris wasn’t the only one on the receiving end of Wilkes’s attack. Aurora got a little bit of it as well. Adrien, meanwhile, got attacked after his match by Syn with a chair. Michael Alexander and Adrien’s girlfriend-slash-THW manager Adrianna Rivers basically had to get the three of them to the medical center by the end of the show, though Aurora Rose was definitely the one who got off the easiest.]
Adrien: “Don’t you have a match to be preparing for?”
[Aurora simply replies with a shake of the head.]
Aurora: “They gave me the week off, just like you.”
[Adrien nods his head.]
Adrien: “Take care of the house and take care of Chris while I’m in Los Angeles.”
Aurora: “Will do.”
[Aurora starts to exit the room while Adrien starts collecting papers from atop his desk before Adrien’s mouth opens once more.]
Adrien: “Oh and Aurora…”
[Aurora Rose pokes her head through the door to give Adrien her attention with whatever he was about to say.]
Adrien: “Thank you.”
Aurora: “Thank you.”
[Aurora closes the door to Adrien’s office. Adrien nods his head with a smile on his face. Aurora Rose definitely has been one of his favorite people to work with. She’s become almost like his lesbian little sister. Either way, protecting her from her stalker and former teacher has definitely given them a strong friendship, much more so than Chris though Michael is starting to work his way up there.]
[The World Champion picks up one of the folders on his desk before smiling even wider. He opens the folder and scratching his chin.]
Adrien: “Time to figure out who Joshua Curtis really is.”
[Adrien spreads out all of his papers on his desk as well as a DVD. Adrien taps his pen as he stares down everything on his desk.]
-----------------------------------
“Oh Josh. You poor misguided little fella.”
[Adrien Cochrane stares into the camera, leaning on a tree in the middle of a thin wooded area. The PCW World Heavyweight Champion shakes his head before covering his eyes again with the sunglasses that were setting on top of his short blonde hair. The sunlight seeps through the trees just enough the illuminate the musician as he speaks directly to his opponent.]
Adrien: “And this is a mistake a lot of people make, even outside this great competitive sport we all partake in. People are so quick to make assumptions, so quick to make hasty judgments and assumptions that they get the wrong idea entirely. Jay Thunder and I share an employer, we both have titles and that’s about it. Do I like the kid? Yeah, sure, when he’s not in the middle of decapitating someone just because they are in the way or something like that. But how he approaches things and how I approach things are complete opposites.
“Just because I come from PCW and Jay comes from PCW does NOT mean we are clones of each other. Each of us, just like every other person on the planet, have their own goals, their own values, beliefs, skills, motivation…everything. The human race is consisted of so many individual creatures that are so uniquely different from the next. To say that I am like Jay just because we both wrestle in PCW is like saying you and Spirit Z are the same kind of person just because you are both in THW. That’s pretty much like saying every person in Louisiana doesn’t like cake just because I don’t or that all bass players are useless just because Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy is.
“My point behind this is mainly looking at your comment about how PCWers don’t come alone. Bull. If anyone comes to interfere in this match, I assure you I didn’t bring them. Because I believe in honor, integrity, and fairness. If you had done proper research, you would have known that. It’s a pretty well documented, just about as much as my speed and heart is, but that’s something I think I’d rather show you than tell you. But I want a great, competitive battle with you. So why the hell would I taint it with interference? So before you go calling me a gutless blunder, please remember that just because Jerry Matthews and Jay Thunder don’t fight fair, does not mean that little ole me is going to go for a cheap victory too. I’m not backing you in a corner. I’m not trying to go at you and make you suffer or steal a win from you. I am going to go into that ring, show everyone how I got the World Title in PCW, and probably raise your arm after the match, win or lose.
“You are terrific in the ring, Joshua. I think it’s only a matter of time before you’re holding gold in THW. But the fact of the matter is, you need to make sure you’re not jumping to conclusions about things like this so quickly because that’s a slippery slope if you let it get out of hand, my friend. I’m not some power hungry, selfish jerk off who wants nothing more than the spotlight on me, and will do whatever it takes, legal or cheap, to win. Completely false, broseph. But no worries as I have faith I can change your mind this Tuesday about how honorable I am, and I have faith you’re going to turn things around. I sense your future will be brighter than the orange shirt I’m wearing right now. But we must take things one step at a time. First, Joshua Curtis, we battle to see which of us will be the victor.”

Ugh…I hate flying…
[Adrien Cochrane walks through the security check point as he enters the main waiting area of the Los Angeles International Airport after getting off his plane. He has forty eight hours until his big match against Joshua Curtis on Honorable Mention, which is just enough time for the New Orleans native to shake off the jet lag and get used to the time zone change, though the latter shouldn’t be too hard given Adrien’s status as a night owl. But the first thing Adrien needs to do, now that he has finally arrived in Los Angeles is find the first place that serves a steak and finally quiet down the rumbling going on in his stomach.]
[The Dropkick King is wearing typical clothes of his: a pair of clean blue jeans, a long sleeve blue plaid button down shirt with the top button undone to show the white undershirt he has underneath it. His sunglasses are, as they were in his video to Joshua Curtis, setting atop his blonde hair for when he exits the building into sunny California. The sunglasses fall right off he feels a person leaping on his back.]
What the he…
“It’s about time you got here! I was worried I was going to be waiting for you all day!”
[Adrien smiles. He should have known who it was based on the small amount of weight on his back, but the voice pretty much confirmed it. Adrien just replies with his pleasantly surprise tone.]
Adrien: “What on earth are you doing here, Adrianna?”
[Adrien’s girlfriend and THW manager Adrianna Rivers leaps off Adrien’s back before giving her boyfriend a proper hug. The younger sister of Miranda Rivers excitedly replies.]
Adrianna: “Well, thought I would surprise you when you landed. So I got Aurora to tell me what flight you were on and waited for you to land.”
[Adrien starts to wonder if he was blushing or not as he shakes his head with a goofy grin on his face.]
Adrien: “You are something else, you know that? In a good way, of course.”
[The Savannah Summer lead singer just smiles right back at Adrien.]
Adrianna: “I bet you’re starving. Let me show you a great place to get a steak I think you will love.”
Did she just say steak? My God, this girl is incredible.
