OOC - Just a brief little intro like CD to give a little more insight to the character. This is a brand new character for me so things will become more detailed with time and any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.
The scene opens in Houston Texas at a local recording studio where members of the media are present as Deadwood Marshal Douglas says he has a major announcement about his career in the music industry and his future. CMT and VH1 and many local news stations are on hand live for this announcement. Deadwood approached the podium and the cameras begin to flash and questions from the media fly like crazy. Big Tex takes the mic to welcome the large crowd.
Big Tex - "Good evening all and thank you for joining us this afternoon. Marshal has a big announcement which we want to get out before we take any questions. So without any further delay here is the man of the hour, Deadwood!"
Marshal Douglas - "Thanks Tex, as for the media and fans who turned out for this event its nice to see such a great turnout. Their are two things i need to address here today and i want to start with my music. I want to tell you all that the rumors that have been circling are true that i have come across a new first choice of profession. Now this in no way means that my music is done but it means its going to take a seat on the back burner while i get settled in to my new career."
CMT Reporter - "Mr. Douglas is their a time table for when we can expect your return to touring with your music. And also don't you think this is a little bit out of line on your part? Your fans in music have given you your place in the spotlight and now your telling them that they have to wait on you."
Marshal Douglas - "Now wait a damn minute, i don't know where you think you are at but this isn't a meeting of congress or CNN where you can get someone to say something they will regret by pressuring them. I want to make it perfectly clear i don't regret anything that comes out of my mouth. Now to answer your question i don't think its fair for you or anyone else to expect me to put them before myself. The fact of the matter is i will resume music when the time comes. And as for me being out of line, let me just tell you ask another question like that and we will step out back and you will learn what out of line is."
Local News Reporter - "Deadwood don't you think your going to create quite the uproar among your fan base. How do you plan to keep them happy and waiting for your return as if nothing has changed?"
Marshal Douglas - "I don't think your getting the point which is i don't care. I know how the industry works, if people want to see me they will wait regardless of what i say or do. My fans know me well enough by now to realize that i cater to nobody. If its not in my best interest its not going to happen, now if i can i would like to move onto my second announcement. As many of you know i have quite the reputation when it comes to causing a scene and stirring up trouble on the bar scene. So i have come to realize my true calling is and always has been is to fight. Now i don't mean just fight either, i mean competitive fighting where you look to become top dog and take on all comers. I have decided to embark in a career in pro wrestling. I have taken a particular interest in a company by the name of Premium Championship Wrestling and we are currently in heavy negotiations to bring me into the promotion."
VH1 Reporter - "Mr. Douglas why wrestling? I realize you are quite the competitor but isn't their something you could do that is less demanding on the body. I think it would be better suited for you to get into boxing where you could fight once every few months and continue with your music on a regular basis."
Marshal Douglas - "What you are implying i do is take the easy way out. I am starting to wonder if anyone is listening here today. I am in this for the long term and i intend to see this through. I chose wrestling because it is a day to day business. I am done with recording an album for a month and take the next three off. I am done doing a summer tour and taking the whole winter off. I demand more out of myself then what i am getting in the music industry. From here on out you can consider me a changed man. Anybody who would like the chance to change my mind you can do so down the street at my favorite pub where we can discuss it physically. Thatβs all I have to say for now, i will be releasing a blog later in the week to further explain the details and give a progress update on my negotiations with PCW.
