Women's Wrestling Alliance is facing heavy scrutiny over the opening segment of the 28th July, 2018 edition of its weekly Friday Night Frenzy show.
The segment, which saw World Champion Mariah Lopez and Hardcore Champion Aubrey Cassidy, attempt to perform a live sex celebration over their recent singles title victories as well as the previous weeks Tag Team Championship win over Breaking Habits.
The segment was interrupted by Lopez's Beach Bash opponents Athena and Talia Skye, as well as her cousin and WWA Owner Danielle Lopez, who all expressed their disappointment, calling the "celebration" a disgrace and "setting the Women's Wrestling Revolution back to the dark ages of the 90s."
It is currently unknown who approved the segment to air backstage, or if Mariah went to business for herself and her fiancee, but a majority of the locker room has expressed their disappointment on social media.
The Television Network was not too pleased, either. As revealed by the official WWA Twitter account, WWA officials expressed their disappointment over their champion and that she would be punished immediately. After arguing that the same network allowed Premium Championship Wrestling, WWA's parent company, to air more gruesome content, the Network as allowed WWA Frenzy to stay on the air, but has fined the company $500,000 USD.
The WWA Twitter account has also revealed that Mariah has been fined $750,000 USD for the segment, while Aubrey has been fined $500,000 USD for her role. Further punishment is to be determined. Neither woman have been striped of their titles as of this writing and their original Beach Bash matches are still scheduled as planned.
Mariah will be defending the WWA World Championship against Talia Skye and Athena in a Three-Way for the title, while Aubrey will be defending her Hardcore Championship against Kate Steele.
We have reached out to WWA, Mariah, and Aubrey for comment. Neither party has gotten back to us as of this publishing.
