"Ladies and gentlemen, coming to you from Los Angeles, California... It's The Desiree Miles Show! Now your host... Desiree Miles!"
"Down Rodeo" by Rage Against the Machine plays and Desiree Miles comes out from behind the curtain and waves to the studio audience. She takes a bow before walking over to a large desk, then takes a seat on a leather chair, adjusts her glasses, and addresses the audience.
The select people who were allowed to attend gave an applause.
"Mean Girls" by R3AZONS plays and Kelly Hampton walks out wearing a black evening gown dress with matching heels and waves before taking her seat at the table.
Desiree Miles: Welcome Kelly, it’s good to have you.
Kelly Hampton: Thank you, thank you! You have an interesting set up if we’re going to be honest.
Desiree Miles: I try, a little bigger than last time but I try to be accommodating as well. You have taken a rather unfamiliar route to this sport. How did you get into professional wrestling?
Kelly Hampton: I got in after Reyna Carter was signed to a PCW contract. Once she was signed, Rey immediately wanted me to come and manage all of her affairs as well as be on television together. I went with it and I had a blast.
Desiree Miles: Were you initially a fan of wrestling? Or did you grow to like it as you progressed?
Kelly Hampton: The second one. I admit I didn’t really watch the stuff in my youth and my teenage years. Once I got into PCW, I was placed in the developmental territory to learn the ins and outs of things. Knowing Reyna was going to be the one competing, I would be her spokeswoman, I would hype up everything she did, and from the beginning it was just the two of us. Two green horns in various ways just learning on the fly both in developmental and on the main roster. The latter right when some stuff went down and we were immediately rushed on to the main roster without really any experience. It was literally sink or swim for us those first two months.
Desiree Miles: When was the point where things become easier?
Kelly Hampton: When Angelina Williams agreed to help us. At that point, she was a six year veteran so she knew what she was doing and she was good, really good but never really was national outside of a few months with PWW, but we needed a veteran to guide us and she was more than happy to do it, we literally begged for her help. With her along with our other childhood friend Derek Saunders, we formed Mi Pi Sexy and we built it on how we were in High School; mean, arrogant, spiteful rotten human beings with no care for anybody and we would say you are ugly to your face. Think Regina George turned up times ten complete with the Burn Book which we use to this very day. Sadly these days, what we did is being horribly parodied by fucking Sausage Smugglers known as the "Pretty" Committee, and I use pretty very loosely when it comes to those botched Botox gutter sluts.
Desiree Miles: And from that point you girls were rolling as a group, feuding with Team Lethality’s tag team The Lethal Barbarians who were known as The Princesses of Lethality at that point. Reyna and Angelina feuded with them until PCW’s closure but how was that overall for the confidence of the team?
Kelly Hampton: It boosted both of them tremendously. They were excited and for me, it meant I got to do some really good talking and antics to truly get us over as villains. We got the people to hate us, and we riled them up in August. Course that whole night was a riot but that’s for another time. Once PCW ended, it was really the beginning of the end as Angelina went back to Hamilton while Rey and I took ourselves to JPW alongside another green wrestler in Allison Nichols which well… let's be honest, that shit was hot fucking garbage.
Desiree Miles: Would you say 2014 was the worst year for the group?
Kelly Hampton: Absolutely, no question about it. Within the span of six months, our stock completely plummeted and we were back to square one. We were in WWA for a bit with Nichols and we just didn’t go anywhere at all. In fact we were suffering and we knew we had to break it up.
Desiree Miles: How did you both feel when that conversation took place?
Kelly Hampton: We weren’t thrilled but we knew it had to happen. By that point Rey needed to do it without the band and I wanted to go back home for a little while and do some small stuff. We also just started ReyFab and I would help with the day-to-day operations while she advertises the name on the road. That strategy worked out quite nicely as Rey just skyrocketed with Talia further mentoring her and giving her confidence while I was doing some spot shows in Toronto and that’s where I learned more with my talking, it gave me confidence going forward.
Desiree Miles: Sometime in 2016, you return and now you’re up against Reyna who is WWA World Champion, and you two got physical with one another. How was that?
Kelly Hampton: That was a lot harder for both of us than people thought because we are the best of friends, but in the situation we were complete pros about it and I'm sure she'll agree with this but we did it to the best of our abilities. Angelina was also involved albeit briefly, and we all were finding ourselves separately but we continued talking and encouraging each other on this journey while doing our own thing.
Desiree Miles: Then you land in Cardinal City Pro where you just absolutely come into your own as a manager, managing both James Baker and Big Beauty to reigns as Junior Heavyweight and North American Champion respectively. This even led to bringing them in WWA where Beauty had a brief TV Title reign and feud with Eavan Maloney. How was this newfound stardom for you?
Kelly Hampton: Man it was a real confidence booster I’ll tell you. Getting to work with those star quality individuals in CCP, and even coming back here for a bit and get into the mix for the TV Title was amazing. Looking back at least one person who I won’t mention had zero business in that situation and how the Beauty championship reign story concluded was far from the original plan we had come up with. I had a lot of fun but the ReyFab business was also booming and before WWA was shut down by The Network, I once again went back home and handled the business.
Desiree Miles: You mention that and WWA came back four months later in April of 2019 but minus a one off appearance and a spot on the final PCW show, you largely remained out of the spotlight. Why was that?
Kelly Hampton: A number of reasons. For those who didn’t know, in 2017 with my own money, I bought PCW’s old developmental company, the one you were the inaugural World Champion in, and we started running weekly. I wanted to fully focus on that for a while, and business was really good. We were a big time hit in the Vegas area where I eventually moved to. We’re just now running Pride Wrestling shows again albeit with very few people in attendance. I run the company as an independent and I’m content with the company being a local hit in Vegas.
Desiree Miles: But on June 19th, the 180th episode of Friday Night Frenzy, you come back to confront The Horsewomen on their attack on Reyna but you didn’t come alone as Angelina Williams and Lexi Reiyne were with you, reforming Mi Pi Sexy. Tell me why was that the right time to reform the group?
Kelly Hampton: Rey, Angelina and I always said we would bring the group back when the time was right but under something different. That night was the time, we all learned about the business and are now veterans, what better than to bring it back? Since our return, we’ve added Maya Parsons to the fold. She’s a young up and coming talent who has potential to do some good things, she just needs the time and the right setting to bring all of that out. And the group now, we’re not like what we did the first time. We’ve grown since then and today we pride ourselves as the leaders of Beauty Empowerment where we encourage and help women of all shapes and sizes to let their inner beauty come out into the open. That’s also what ReyFab is in a lot of ways, a tool to push Beauty Empowerment worldwide. We want to be an example that young girls can be proud of and learn from. Learn from our mistakes to be better and beautiful human beings.
Desiree Miles: We’re going to go into you personally if you don’t mind. How was early life like for you?
Kelly Hampton: It was fantastic. Like Rey’s parents, mine were extremely wealthy. Our parents were friends which automatically had us hitting it off. We’ve known each other our entire lives so we’ve always had each other growing up. We were rotten for our years as children and teenagers, we were rotten to other people but once we became adults, and once we learned that having a shit ton of money isn’t exactly going to erase the fact that we actually have to put in the work to advance in this business, we learned to change our ways. It helped that we both had veterans who set us straight.
Desiree Miles: Abby Parker has mentioned the term Junior Plastics when it comes to you and Reyna Carter. Do you care to elaborate on that?
Kelly Hampton: As I mentioned earlier, in High School we were basically like what you saw in the movie Mean Girls. Every personality trait, that’s what we were although our clique then was bigger than it was when Mi Pi Sexy formed. We admittedly made life difficult for her and others, we don’t hide what we used to be. If anything, we use our former selves as a reminder that anybody can improve who they are as people, they just have to want to put in that work to be good functioning solid people.
Desiree Miles: What about the dating life?
Kelly Hampton: I get teased about this. I don’t exactly date. For whatever reasons I just have never gotten down to doing so. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be opposed, it’s just… no I haven’t really doubled down on actually doing it.
Desiree Miles: Do you have any final words!?
Kelly Hampton: Um, well not in particular no except as of this recording. Mariella Lopez you dumb bitch, your actions are going to come back to haunt you and once your Monsters are taken care of and the rest of your moronic minions are gone, you will be the last and will fall like the empire. Prepare for disappointment and agony, best believe that.
Kelly drops the mic and struts off the stage.
Desiree Miles: We had that hot fire with our first guest. My second guest though is the Killjoy of professional wrestling, two time Television Champion of the Women’s Wrestling Alliance as well as the 2019 Breakout Wrestler of the year and 2020 WWA Champion of the Year, here is… Kelli Saint!
“Potter's Field” by Anthrax plays and Kelli makes her way out. The Pretty Saint member is dressed in a black Sainthood promotional t-shirt, denim jeans, and black combat boots.
Desiree Miles: Thank you Kelli for being on the show. Now you and I have had a contentious arrangement on Twitter in the past. I would like to inform you that my questions are of the professional manner and I would hope the same in return. I do ask the tough questions, so I will proceed with the first one that I am sure everybody has been chomping at the bit to know…
Desiree pauses for a brief bit before asking.
Desiree Miles: Myself along with others had a little fun insinuating you were related to Shannon Saint due to the same last name, and you both are geographically from the same area. My questions are; are you legitimately related to him? And was the alliance just something of convenience for the two of you?
Kelli Saint: I could have sworn that when I agreed to do this “show” I wouldn’t be asked about ANYTHING pertaining to Shannon Saint!
Kelli gives a slight huff and a suck of the teeth as she hatefully stares at Desiree.
Kelli Saint: Apparently that wasn’t true and just goes to show where your journalistic integrity is, Desiree. Since you put it out on the table, it’s no one's business if he and I are related. Not that I am admitting or denying any bloodline connection, mind you. What he and I accomplished in 2019 and the majority of 2020 shouldn’t be minimized because you and your ilk are more concerned if Shannon and I are family or not.
She slightly shifts her posture in the sit.
Kelli Saint: In the ring, I have solidified my status as great ALREADY. Outside of the ring, Shannon more than accomplished his job as the manager that assisted me on solidifying my status. No one, and mean fucking NO ONE, can ever erase that shit, Desiree, no matter how hard they try.
Desiree Miles: My next question might be a bit on the controversial side, but I’ll proceed. You can stop me anytime a question is a bit out of bounds.
Kelli Saint: As if the last question wasn’t out of fucking bounds…
Kelli rolls her eyes.
Desiree Miles: Prior to WWA, it was known that you battled addiction due to years and years of physical abuse from your style of wrestling. Looking back on it, is there anything you would have done differently? And knowing what you know today, what advice would you give to your younger self?
Kelli Saint: Battled addiction is a very far cry from what I was doing, Desiree. Naw, I completely gave into it time and time again. There was no battling, no fighting. Whatever could mask the mental and physical pain I partook. Of course it was medically prescribed painkillers and loads of alcohol after all the nights of extreme wrestling I subjected myself to. The more induced I became the easier it was to push my body to even greater heights and limits. That all led to more pain which led to harder substances.
The “cousin” of Lola Saint becomes quiet for a moment as if in deep reflection.
Kelli Saint: Desiree, I’m not the one that lives my life with regrets. Everything I have done in my life, from the ups to the downs, to the highs and the lows, they all have made me the woman you see before you today. But as far as the one advice I’d give my younger self, probably would be don’t marry Joshua Samson.
She chuckles to herself at the thought of her ex-husband.
Desiree Miles: Let’s go back to the beginning, what inspired you to become a professional wrestler? And when did you start becoming interested in the sport?
Kelli Saint: My inspiration was actually my older brother, William. After he graduated from college, he tried his hand in the sport and persuaded me to give it a go as well. Since I was bored during my second year of college, I was like what the hell not. Thirty some years later and here I am.
Desiree Miles: You have been wrestling all over the world for many years across multiple companies; with 2021 now being here, what are your goals for this year and beyond?
Kelli Saint: My goals are the same as they have been since I walked into WWA in 2019 and that’s to compete at the highest level possible against those that think themselves at the highest level. If I happen to gain some gold trinkets along the way so be it but that has never been my main objective. I’ve been in the sport too long to get caught up in chasing championships.
Killjoy crosses her left leg over the right before continuing.
Kelli Saint: A big goal that I do have for this year is to get Lola to the point that she is a feared competitor in the ring. It makes no sense that she is not mentioned amongst the highly touted members of WWA. But then again I suppose if your name isn’t Lopez or Alvarez you’ll bump your head on the ceiling if you stand up.
Desiree Miles: Obviously everybody has an expiration date as far as in-ring competition is concerned, some retire either at or before thirty, before or at forty, or compete beyond their forties and fifties. How long do you think you have left in the ring? When do you think you’ll be able to walk away?
Kelli Saint: Considering that I'm past forty and still competing at chicks nearly half my age, it’s safe to say that I still have a considerable amount left in the tank. The three or four years that I committed to rehab and got my mind in a better state it restored me physically which allowed me to add some time to my “expiration date”. On top of that, I don’t take any kind of drugs whatsoever. I don’t drink alcohol. I have a strict vegan diet.
Desiree Miles: Staying on the retirement topic, what plans do you have after your in-ring days are over? Would it be like staying in the business to help the new talent, road agent, booker and something related to the sport? Or do you plan on just leaving it entirely and build something bigger outside of the industry.
Kelli Saint: I honestly have never really given it much thought, Desiree. Since I was nineteen this sport has been a part of my life...it’s been my life. Last year I ventured into some modeling, signing with Never Enough Moments modeling but I’m not sure if I could see myself doing that full time. Modeling has been moreso for me to show people that the little ugly duckling has probably grown into an ugly duck but goddamn it I’m secure in who I am and how I look.
Desiree Miles: Lastly, are there any final comments that you have?
Kelli Saint: Naw not really, Desiree. Well maybe...try to be a bit less biased when you’re oon the stick out there especially during my matches.
The Sainthood leaves the set and Desiree can be seen rolling her eyes.
Desiree Miles: I like to think I’m not biased at all but you know, I also don’t take the opinions of Mr. McCheese’s kin all that seriously either.
Desiree shrugs her shoulders.
Desiree Miles: My next guest is an interesting individual. You may know her as The Reaper and the “Prophet of Chaos”, but today she will be telling her story worldwide. Please welcome… Abby Parker!
“Living Dead Girl” by Rob Zombie plays and Abby Parker walks out, dressed in all black minus the face covering which is a red Goku mask from Dragon Ball Z. She’s completely out of The Reaper persona as she’s not crawling everywhere. She reaches the ring and takes a seat.
Desiree Miles: Thank you for joining us, Abby.
Abby Parker: It’s my pleasure. It’s good to be here.
Desiree Miles: Not much is known about you outside of you being the fourth person to don the Reaper persona. How did that come about?
Abby Parker: As most people know, Ryan came down with a major illness about two years ago, Lymphoma to be exact. He was on top in JPW and it put him down. All of us were shaken by it but I remember him specifically coming up to me after he was diagnosed, uncertain whether he would survive or not that if it’s definitive he cannot pull through, he would pass on The Reaper persona, powers and characteristics on to me. It was a very big deal because I was kind of languishing at the time but by the same token, those are some big shoes to fill. But even though I had his blessing, I had to ask one more person for it.
Desiree Miles: Who was that person?
Abby Parker: I had to ask Bella too because with Ryan’s version, she was attached to the hip so for me, it was very important to get her approval. Not a lot of people are fully aware that Ryan practically mentored me and helped me navigate my way around the business as the person who trained me really didn’t teach me a thing, he just wanted the cash, he didn’t so much as care for the student. That guy can kick rocks anyways. Once he got diagnosed the second time, he passed it all on to me but made sure I promised to not tarnish the whole legacy. I was on board because if I can come close to all that he did in this business, I can live life happily.
Desiree Miles: Let’s talk about life before professional wrestling. Tell me a summary if you don’t mind.
Abby Parker: I was born and raised in Toronto, my parents split up when I was five. My two older brothers had raised me as Dad wasn’t really around all that often while my mother worked three jobs just to put food on the table and keep the house. Things never came easy for me, always had to earn everything because life isn’t handed out to you on a silver platter.
Desiree Miles: How was school life for you?
Abby Parker: For me, I was more along the “different kids”. The preps, jocks and Junior Plastics were along the same lines as each other, then you had the car enthusiasts, the hellions which I never really interacted with. And lastly the nerdy kids and the goths which I was in between both because of my anime fascination and my take on The Reaper is self explanatory. My encounters with the Junior Plastics were not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination. It was a living nightmare being taunted and jeered by that particular group. Four years at CTA with those people was enough but at least two of them I know of left that petty high school crap in the rear view mirror.
Desiree Miles: That being Reyna Carter and Kelly Hampton?
Abby Parker: Correct. I thought seeing those two again many years later that it was going to be like High School and the Pride Academy again but to my pleasant surprise they conducted themselves as mature adults and actually are fun people to interact with. Unlike the Sausage Smugglers, Carter and Hampton have actually learned from their past behavior and have become better human beings because of it.
Desiree Miles: So after High School, you went to seek training to become a professional wrestler but when did you start watching it?
Abby Parker: I was five when I started watching, and I was invested from the word go. I thought it was the greatest thing ever and I became a fanatic for it. So after high school, I moved out to California for a while and seeked out James Baker’s school because I wanted to make it. Put down a grand but it was a waste of time and money because he barely trained me so that was humiliating. That’s where Ryan took me under his wing and he had Dani train me the in-ring work. Pride Academy helped with the rest.
Desiree Miles: Which leads to PCW. You were a part of the famed 2013 class that featured Reyna Carter, Crystal Alvarez, Jinzai, Tom Pendergrass and etcetera. How was PCW/Pride for you?
Abby Parker: It was a blast. Got to be a part of the revamped version of Pride and simultaneously I held three titles until WWA commitments caused me to drop all three of them. The World, X and Unified Titles to be exact. I know the company is still running to this day if I’m not mistaken. When I was there Kelly Hampton was running the joint and I have to give the Junior Plastic credit, she does a heck of a job as a promoter.
Desiree Miles: Since 2017 you have been on and off with WWA, initial stint being Trios Champion with Nicole and Lizzy Allen being managed by the late Alexis Landry. Then you left for a while before coming back and you’ve been successful with a reign as Joshi Champion. What are your goals for 2021?
Abby Parker: Get back to championship contention. I want either the TV or World Titles. I also want to win the Tag Team Titles. I need to ask a certain friend of mine to see if she wants to go for them or not. Danger Zone, Des. Danger Zone.
Desiree Miles: Who would you say are your closest confidants in the business?
Abby Parker: I largely keep to myself but Tara Cabral is obviously number one, love that girl to death. By proxy Crystal Alvarez is there. Mariah Lopez and both Bella and Rachel Robinson are there too. Management here is also cool too, Danielle is very nice and extremely accommodating. I don’t necessarily have a bad thing to say about anybody here from a personal standpoint.
Desiree Miles: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Abby Parker: Hmm. Well if you have dreams, follow them, act on them and don’t act like a conceited moron to others. Never look down on a person because you just never know when or if you end up in that situation. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Rest In Peace Ryan Robinson, we love you and we still miss you.
Abby salutes everybody and leaves the set.
Desiree Miles: That was an interesting conversation. Now my next guest are a very interesting duo themselves. To be frank they are WWA’s hottest team. Give it up for Jane Harper and Chiaki Sanada; the 2 Broke Chicks.
Słoń & Dope D.O.D.’s “Make’em Bleed” comes on over the PA system as the arena lights dim down, bringing all attention to the lighting on and around the stage. Everyone’s attention is on the entrance curtain when, all of a sudden, an air horn like the one heard from a fire engine BLASTS through the arena. From the side of the stage, a tricked out RV painted white with neon blue accents rolls up. As the opening refrain with Skits Vicious begins, theside door flies open and out comes the 2 Broke Chicks. In name only, of course! There’s some visible laughs of amusement as Jane then turns towards the stage and tries to look serious as she approaches the ramp. On the opposite side of the mood spectrum, Chiaki Sanada gives their ride an adoring pat before scurrying to catch up with her tag team partner.
As the two make their way down the ramp, Jane’s attempt to stay serious is all but lost once Chiaki moves in front of her, just goofing off and throwing random signs at the camera in sync with their music. As Słoń’s verse comes, Chiaki starts singing along, except in Japanese. The strength of the duo finally breaks into laughter at the little one’s antics and the pair continue towards the ring. Once they reach ringside, Jane comes in behind Chiaki and lifts the crazy little Joshi up onto her shoulders. She makes a lap around the ring itself while Chiaki’s waving her arms from side to side over her head, trying to get the fans to join in. They do, for the most part. Chiaki hops off of Jane’s shoulders and onto the apron. She’s back to throwing thuggish little hand signals as Jane climbs onto the apron. Jane climbs into the ring and stands behind Chiaki who is still doing her thing as they both throw up their actual, personal team gesture. Chiaki finally gets into the ring and the two of them move to their seats.
Desiree Miles: Welcome girls, and it was I who called the Photoshop hoes Sausage Smugglers.
There is a laugh among the audience.
Desiree Miles: Okay moving past the joke, I’ll get the first question to Jane. In West Philadelphia… no, not going to recite the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air song here. But you grew up on the mean tough streets of Philadelphia; brash and all up in a person’s grill. I can only imagine that it takes a certain person to legit survive on the streets, but in your own words, how did you do it?
Jane Harper: You learn real quick how to be tough and fight. You can't take no shit from no one. When you legit hear almost daily that someone you know was either shot at or shot, you learn you either sit in the shadows or try getting outta there. It's a tough thing to do either of those, but you can take the girl outta the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto outta the girl.
Desiree Miles: I will ask the same question to Cheech. Growing up in the Roppongi section of Tokyo, Japan, you got into a lot of stuff. How exactly did you make bank? And what was the craziest thing you did during that time?
Chiaki raises her mic to speak but she stops herself and looks at the camera. She lowers the mic and turns to Jane, muttering something. Jane gives a reassuring pat to her knee and says something back. Finally, Chiaki’s telltale, devious little grin shows on her face as she lifts her mic again and wiggles her fingers.
Chiaki Sanada: Chi Chi get...Dono yō ni iimasu ka? Public donations!
She giggles away from the mic. The crowd laughs a little as it’s clear, given the motion of her fingers, it suggests she more than likely picked pockets. To make her tale even wilder, after tapping her chin, thoughtfully, Chiaki continues.
Chiaki Sanada: Chi Chi meet ahh…Kumicho! Yakuza! She say “Oi! Hi big boy, how you today? Nani ka tanoshī koto ga shitai?”
She appears to re-enact her actions of her story, touching a nail to her cheek and bats her eyelashes.
Chiaki Sanada: We go to room, Chi Chi go BAM!
She re-enacts whacking someone over the head with something and the crowd starts riling up with laughter.
Chiaki Sanada: Take wallet! Big boy say “OI! Koko ni modotte, anata wa meinu o kuso!” BANG BANG BANG!
Chiaki uses her hand in the shape of a gun and re-enacts firing wildly.
Chiaki Sanada: Chi Chi say “AGH! Hashire! Hashire! Hashire!” Like American Tom Hanks!
She starts pumping her arms like she’s mimicking hard running before relaxing back in her chair and shrugs, making the “money money” motion with her fingers.
Desiree Miles: This is for you both. How did you two meet exactly? And what was the inspiration behind the name 2 Broke Chicks?
Jane looks over at Chiaki, a little smile comes across her face before she puts an arm around the shoulders of her blue haired best friend.
Jane Harper: Well, it happened after I was kicked out of a dojo over in Japan because I couldn't keep my inner thoughts on the inside and I was kick to jump at any chance to just throw hands with someone if they looked at me wrong. I went to Japan with not much in the way of cash and once you get kicked out of a dojo, word gets out and it's hard to do anything with that kind of reputation, so I found myself without a home, very little cash, not nearly enough to fly home, so I made the best of it, found an old, rundown van, bought it and began living out of it. One day, I was chilling, smoking a bowl when a little blue haired girl jumped in to hide from something.
Desiree Miles: This one is also for you both. How and when did you decide to try your hand at professional wrestling? And do either of you recall a certain moment that made you go “I want to do that for a living”?
Jane Harper: For me, anyway, growing up like I did, you learn to fight real quick. My old man used to take me to wrestling shows and stuff when we could afford it and all these tough bastard just made me fall in love with it and one day, I told him that's what I was gonna do with my life.
Desiree Miles: Another one for you both. Everybody does eventually hang it up but what plans do you two have for when it’s time? What would you be content with doing in a post wrestling life?
Jane Harper: Well, I will say, as long as I got my blue haired bestie here with me for life, I don't need to do nothing else once this journey is over.
Desiree Miles: To you both, what are your goals for 2021 and beyond?
Jane and Chiaki look at each other, grinning big then both turn to Desiree.
Both Girls: Trios Titles baby! Fuck Mariella and the Pickle Catchers! Hi Doku-chan!!
Jane throws the deuces. Chi Chi waves excitedly. Both at the camera to their 3rd and probably more deadlier team mate, Dokueki.
Desiree Miles: This one is for Jane. What is the craziest thing you’ve seen in the streets of Philly?
Jane Harper: Oh shit, gotta be a guy gettin curb stomped like it was straight outta American History X. Dude owed a guy a ton of money for a long time and it was his time to pay. That shit was gnarly.
Desiree Miles: Cheech, are there any regrets about Roppongi? And are there any methods or deals you would have done differently looking back on things?
Chiaki pauses here, rocking the mic in her hand with her elbow propped on her knee. Slowly, gradually, Chiaki’s impish little grin fades and viewers are somewhat surprised to see a look of remorse appear.
Chiaki Sanada: Umm….
She brings her knuckles up to her lips and lowers her head. Jane catches on and reaches over rubbing her back. She shakes her head to Desiree, throwing her a little motion with a hand across the neck signaling to just skip that topic. Desiree agrees and moves on as Chiaki now seems smaller than she already is, in her chair. Jane works on comforting her.
Desiree Miles: On November 13th, 2020; the 188th edition of Friday Night Frenzy, you two teamed up with Dokueki for the first time ever and that led to Chroma Conclave being born. Was this something that was always planned? Or was it random and you two went from there?
Jane Harper: Going in, we knew what kind of legend Dok was. It was huge to be able to team with her. Personality wise, we may not look like a team, but our styles mesh so well, that it felt natural.
Desiree Miles: And lastly, do either of you have any last words for anybody around here? Whether it is the Sausage Smugglers or anybody else, the floor is yours.
Here, Chiaki finally looks up, wiping her eyes with her baggy sleeve. Was she crying?! Well, she’s grinning again as she digs into her hoodie pouch. The camera picks up a faint rattle as Chiaki produces a little pill bottle and a tube of something.
Chiaki Sanada: Oi, Pickle Catchers! Fathead Mariella! ‘Specially Fugu-chan! Watashitachiha anatagata zen'in no tame ni kite imasu! Trios Titles coming to Chroma Conclave! But you can have this! Anata wa osoraku sorera no beruto yori mo sore o hitsuyō to shite imasu.
Chiaki throws what’s in her hand towards the camera and the objects hit the mat. The camera angles down to catch a close up on what she threw: a bottle of Ibuprofen and a tube of Monistat. When the camera lifts back up to the 2 Broke Chicks and Desiree, Chiaki flips the bird.
Desiree Miles: My final guests for this show are a married couple in WWA. The “KO Queen” and the Joshi Champion to be exact; here’s Crystal Alvarez and Tara Cabral.
The beginning of Lacey Sturm’s “Impossible” plays but right before the lyrics played, the music stopped and CFO$’s “Spiteful” plays as both Tara Cabral and Crystal Alvarez walk out with Tara armed with the Joshi Title. They both shake hands with Desiree before taking a seat.
Desiree Miles: Thank you both for being a part of the show. I do have a lot of questions but to not go on too too long, I have picked out specific ones to ask.
Desiree pauses for a brief bit before asking.
Desiree Miles: The first couple of questions are for Tara. How were things growing up in Toronto? When did you become interested in professional wrestling, and what moment can you recall that made you want to pursue this as a career?
Tara: I think my brother is who got me into wrestling. I have three siblings; an older brother, Ricardo or Ricky, an older sister Louisa, and a younger sister Maria. Ricky watched it religiously when we were kids. I just thought the costumes and the stage shows were cool. Growing up in Toronto was interesting in retrospect. Big Italian family, lived in the Italian district, we were the hoodlums of the neighborhood if you listened to everyone else. Dad died when Maria was three, cancer took him. Mom, the crazy Italian mom, she was strict but she raised us as best she could. As for what moment precisely? I was pretty athletic in high school, and okay I was a misfit so I had to be. I kept it up, had odd jobs here and there in warehousing, places like that, and there was a new indie company wanting to start up and looking for talent. My boyfriend at the time was a wrestler, and he kept wanting me to get in the business as a mouthpiece because I can talk anyone’s ear off and be a bit loud. So, that’s how I started, as a manager. Went to wrestling school, got in the ring, and fast-forward… shit, 10 years? And I'm here in WWA.
Desiree Miles: Crystal, I pose the same exact question to you.
Crystal Alvarez: San Juan was a very rough place if we’re going to be honest. I have heard it has gotten better over the years but still not an easy place to survive in. Had to fight everybody just to survive. As for the wrestling parts. I’m going to be real, I didn’t really think much of pursuing it as a career until Dani took me in. I wanted to go to MMA but there weren’t a whole lot of fighting camps popping up at that time but I can tell you meeting Dani for the first time ever made me really consider going after it, and lo and behold, that’s what I did when I started living in her house.
Desiree Miles: I’m going to stay on you for a minute and ask about a somewhat well known story. A lot of people are aware of the brutal murder of your mother in San Juan almost ten years ago. Do you recall specific events of that case? You can give as much or as little detail as you want.
Crystal sighs.
Crystal Alvarez: I knew this was coming so I had to literally prepare myself all day for this. You’ll have to forgive me as 2012 was nine years ago, but it was around eight o’clock at night, my mom and I were getting finished with dinner and I was helping her clean up. All of a sudden, five big burly men broke down the door of the apartment and went right after my mom. I tried to defend her but the numbers were too much and two of the guys slammed my head against the wall, knocking me unconscious for a moment or two. It gets a little foggy from there but the last I remember was not being able to use my body strength and watching these thugs beat the living hell out of my mother to where she was unconscious then pouring gasoline all over her and lighting her on fire as I had a knife to my throat. I literally watched my mother die in front of my eyes and it has been a haunting thing ever since because I always think I could have done more even though my body just couldn’t move. It’s a little easier to talk about it but it still hurts to think about it every now and then.
Crystal puts her head down briefly to compose herself. Tara leans over to wrap an arm around her and rub her back to comfort her.
Crystal Alvarez: I will never forget what those people did for as long as I am breathing. I am thankful that just last year, and pardon me for the swearing you can get the censors ready, every piece of shit that was involved in this were given life in prison. I am thankful to the government over there and the police for never closing the case. It gives me a sense of closure knowing those assholes are rotting in prison getting in touch with their sensitive side. It's better they’re there.
Desiree Miles: Tara, it’s documented you went to Central Toronto Academy along with Reyna Carter, Kelly Hampton and Abby Parker but didn’t graduate. What were the reasons for your departure? And how was life in general growing up at that time?
Tara: We went to the same place, but we never crossed paths. They likely ran in different circles, while I just tried to run away. I can’t say I was so much a bully, as just trying to find myself at the time. Between the domineering siblings and mother, I rebelled quite a bit, raised hell, couldn’t shut up. I had the nickname of TTC, which is actually the acronym for the Toronto Transit Commission. Basically, they were saying I was sexually easy and that everybody had a ride. Little did they know I didn’t lose my virginity until after I left there. As for WHY I left there? I couldn’t take the taunting anymore and snapped on a student who landed in ICU from her injuries. She never really fully recovered, was arrested for attempted murder which got pled down to assault before her family eventually dropped the case because of what happened at school. The school board, though, didn’t want to chance keeping me there so they expelled me, and I finished high school through adult learning classes.
Desiree Miles: After leaving, you pursued a career in wrestling and was on the Independent wrestling circuit for a decade. How was your time on the indies, specifically in the Canadian and East Coast scenes?
Tara: Well, mentioned the boyfriend at the time and the mouthpiece, and honestly I loved it. I started off emulating the managers I had seen on TV before I adopted my own style. Eventually, though, I wanted to get in that ring myself. I was still in decent shape, so I went through the Maple Leaf Academy in Guelph which is outside Toronto, learned both in the academy and at the shows how to bump, control the crowd, all those silly basics that people dismiss. It came to me pretty easily. I was the first one in, the last one out. Putting up rings and tearing them down. Selling merch, loading and unloading chairs, I did all of that. I finally felt like I belonged.
Desiree Miles: This one is for Crystal. After the murder, you end up in San Diego where you spent the rest of your Junior year and entire senior year of High School. Do you recall who got you out of Puerto Rico? And how was life prior to meeting well… most of us?
Crystal Alvarez: Actually I found some random people who were wanting to go to California and I had a little bit of money so in exchange for traveling with them there, I would buy them dinner and that’s how I got here. I was technically homeless, and I was wandering on the side of the road for at least three days until Dani and Mariah found me right by the pizza shop they frequented. I watched a little of PCW television with my mother so I knew who Dani was and I was giddy as hell to see those two. They could easily tell I was in distress. It was Dani’s idea to take me in so I could get fed, get my wounds healed and she added me on as one of her dependent’s as I was a teenager. The two of them would teach me how life was over here and if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have grown and adjusted so easily. I owe so much gratitude to them, especially Dani because in the position she was in, she didn’t have to do a thing but her kindness and generosity as you know is top-notch, literally the sweetest person ever. She took me in as one of her own and helped me. No matter how many times I thank her for all she has done for me, I feel like I can’t thank her enough because without her, I would likely be dead. Thank you again, Dani. I love you.
Desiree Miles: In February 2013, you signed a contract with PCW, becoming the youngest to have ever been under contract. How did you ultimately feel about your time there? And did it shape up what your tenure in professional wrestling would become?
Crystal Alvarez: Actually I was more in the developmental territory than I was on the main roster. That’s where I met Tom, TJ, Rachel, Ryan, Bella, Laurie and the rest of the gang. Dani put a lot of us developing talent in her group because she wanted to shape us into stars which looking back, she definitely did. Pride shaped me for what I would become, I won my first World Title there yet it was my only match on the main PCW roster where I began my “unbeaten streak” of one-hundred twelve matches. It definitely paved the way for what the next several years would become.
Desiree Miles: These next two will be for Tara. First one, what led to you finally taking the plunge and signing a contract with WWA? Your first national contract. And how are you liking it so far?
Tara leans her head and darts her eyes over to Crystal with a smirk on her face.
Tara: I would catch the occasional PCW show and starting watching WWA since its inception. And honestly, I was fascinated with Crystal. The way she worked, the way she looked in the ring, her swagger, all of it. Didn’t hurt she was hotter than a ghost pepper but anyways. Sometime late 2018, I think it was, I met Eavan Maloney who came down to our indie company and I thought it was awesome that this big-time wrestler was coming in to do a one-off with us, and I got to wrestle her, and she’ll hate me mentioning this but I kicked her ass in under four minutes. She’s actually very unlike how you all see her, very down to earth and sweet. I think we talked for a good three hours about the business, and she told me how she thought I’d be huge in WWA. I wasn’t ready yet at the time, but about a year later, WWA were in Hamilton for their Canadian Chaos card so I went to see the show live. I was glued to the edge of my seat. Seeing Eavan and Crystal at the top of that ramp, the respect they had for one another, I knew I wanted to be here. A month later, I’m in San Diego waking up next to her. Far as the company goes, I’m having a blast. Everyone has been so good to me.
Desiree Miles: And this one, what are your goals for 2021 and beyond?
Tara: Well, professionally, at the time we're filming this, Crystal and I are two of the final four in the Lethal Cup, along with our opponents Raven Crowe and Jung Moon respectively so obviously I want to win that. I know Jung will be damn near impossible, especially after watching her matches against Crystal, but damn near doesn't mean it can't happen. Truthfully, when it comes to wrestling, I take things one match at a time. Would I like to win all the titles? Of course but if I’m to win them, I have to be in that spot to get the chance. And I’ll make those opportunities when the time comes. On a personal level, I want Crystal and I to be more independent and stable and we're almost there actually. No more alimony checks, I think that’s the last tie between her and her ex that I need to cut. I want us to be sitting by the water in our rocking chairs together enjoying our old age. I don’t want or need anyone else in my life, partner-wise.
Desiree Miles: This is for Crystal before we get into the couples questions, and please stop me if I’m getting a bit too personal. In 2018 as you were Cardinal City Pro World Champion and closing in on your third reign as WWA World Champion; you had a mental breakdown and it led to an attempted suicide attempt off of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. What were the events that caused this to occur? Is there anything you would tell yourself back then that could have made the situation different? And why the bridge specifically as San Fran is so far away from San Diego?
Crystal Alvarez: Damn Des, you’re going with the dark questions. For reasons everybody already knows, my marriage to [Censored] was at an all time low. She emotionally abused me and cheated on me constantly, she tried physically abusing me but that never went anywhere. Feeling like there was no way out, one day I said fuck it and drove eight hours to San Francisco, specifically the Golden Gate Bridge, because I was just mentally and physically done with the shit. At the time, I felt like jumping off of that bridge because my personal life was a living hell and I wanted the pain to stop. Fortunately both Mariah and Eavan Maloney got wind of what was going on and talked me off the ledge. Each in their own way helped convince me to leave [Censored] and start the rehabilitation process. Eavan especially, first she tried setting me up with Zombie, but you know I was in a really bad place to where we both knew it wasn’t going to work so Eav and I had our own thing which I know this sounds weird as it doesn’t happen for most people, but it actually helped both of us get out of the shitty circumstances we were both in at the time and it strengthened our friendship. It took me a little longer to really move past certain things but for once, I felt like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and both Eav and Mariah helped with that in their own ways.
Tara gets up and hugs Crystal, and with her blocking the view of the camera, Crystal pulls herself together again before Tara nods and sits back down.
Tara: That was… tough to hear even if I’d heard the story a few times. We’re okay, Des.
Desiree Miles: We’re going to couples questions. You two lovebirds have been together for a year, married since July. How did you two meet? It wasn’t Tinder was it? And who introduced you two to each other?
Tara: Oh God no! I'd always been a fan of Crystal's as I mentioned before. After that Hamilton show, I contacted Eavan to get Dani's number actually as I wanted into WWA, and as her and I were talking, she mentioned Crystal was single. Huge lump in my throat, I asked for her number. To be honest, even if it was just a meet up with, I'll just say it, my hero, I would have been satisfied. I knew a bit of her personal struggles and I could relate to a lot of it. So I called her up, flew out, had a lovely time. She told me she was going to honor her other commitment she made and would keep in touch.
Crystal Alvarez: You know, fuck it. I’m going to take my hoodie off real quick if you don’t mind.
Crystal takes her hoodie off and reveals a black t-shirt that reads “#FreeSeleana2021” then flips two middle fingers to the camera.
Crystal Alvarez: Fuck you Chrystalina! But the piece of shit actually tried setting me up with Ashley Whitmore who was trained by Hilton, which is like a moron training a paraplegic how to fucking walk. Right at the same time, Eavan slipped Tara my number and well, I knew who I was going to choose all along. I mean it was no contest, you would have to be a brain dead moron to choose the other side. Tinder is… God no, just no Des.
Desiree Miles: When you two met, was it love at first site? Where was your first date? And how well did you two hit it off?
Tara: I don't think I ever told her this, but I was actually intimidated. Our first date, I know it was only a year ago but considering the year it was, feels like ten years ago. I honestly don't recall but I know it was dinner and a walk along a pier. I think we hit it off okay, I know Crystal was still apprehensive about all of it and I gave her all the time she needed. Like I said, I was preparing to meet my hero, anything beyond that was gravy.
Crystal Alvarez: As you know Des, I keep my guard up a lot and I don’t let many people in, its why I keep my circle relatively small. I admit I was a little nervous because it’s a new situation and my previous dating attempts went to hell in a hand-basket. Tara was right in that it was dinner and a long walk along the pier, we did that until like five in the morning pacific standard time. Literally all night, and this was the night before we stayed up and talked on the phone for hours and hours until like four in the morning her time. I did have the commitment and me being me, I had to honor it but the date and the talk on the phone was like “this is what I want”, and once I evaluated things, we made it official.
Desiree Miles: Admittedly this is a spin off of a question I asked Tara but this will be about life. What goals do you two have? Do you want to start a family? Business ventures in both Canada and California? Travel the whole world without the wrestling part? Start a wrestling school? Or other?
Tara: Crystal and I had talked about running something similar to what Dani did to help Crystal out. Help young people who feel stranded in life, and give them tools, steer them to training, going back to school, whatever. There are a lot of people like us out there and I think if we could pay that forward somehow, that’s what I’d want to do.
Crystal Alvarez: Definitely travel the world without having to wrestle. I do have a business degree so it’s entirely possible to do some stuff on that end too. Maybe invest in Ryan’s old businesses that I think Bella still runs to this day, I haven’t asked her about that in a while. I’m open to most things, minus throuples and things of that nature. I’m not a huge fan of having kids but I keep that option open just in case, likely won’t happen because they cost A LOT of money.
Desiree Miles: Everybody has a time where they have to say goodbye. When do either of you think you’ll be hanging up the tights and boots for good?
Crystal Alvarez: This one is easy for me. I haven’t touched up on it too much but I give myself two to four more years. I want to get out of this business by the time I am thirty years old. I don’t want to have my body completely broken when I’m old. I want my body still relatively healthy so I can enjoy life to the fullest with my favorite person.
Tara: I always used to say the only way I'm leaving the ring for good is on my back and dead. That's changed considerably since. I'd probably follow Crystal's lead depending how much I've crossed off my bucket list by then.
Desiree Miles: And lastly, do you two have anything else you would like to add?
Tara: Besides the Free Seleana thing, which yes I wholeheartedly agree. Just to go back to what I was talking about earlier, there are a lot of young people, girls especially, who are lost out there. Whether it’s broken homes, issues at school, cyberbullying, fear of being who they truly are. It’s a rough road. We’ve walked it, we’ve lived it, and we see you. Things CAN get better, and as much as it sounds like platitudes, you CAN make the changes necessary. You are stronger than you know, and you’re not alone. 2020 has been a very hard time as a society, and it sucks that we can’t all be with our friends, our family, our support systems in person, but they’re still there. Reach out. We will get through this together.
Crystal Alvarez: She puts it so eloquently so I have nothing more to add except watch us on television and #FreeSeleana2021!
Tara and Crystal shook Desiree's hand and left the stage together.
Desiree Miles: Thank you to both Crystal and Tara for their appearances on the show. And I especially want to thank each and every guest who took me up on the invitation to the show, and you the fans who decided to attend episode number two of The Desiree Miles Show! That's all we have for you, goodnight folks!
The fans applaud.
Fade to black.
"Down Rodeo" by Rage Against the Machine plays and Desiree Miles comes out from behind the curtain and waves to the studio audience. She takes a bow before walking over to a large desk, then takes a seat on a leather chair, adjusts her glasses, and addresses the audience.
Desiree Miles: Thank you, everybody! Welcome to the second episode of the Desiree Miles show and we have a stellar cast of guests for the occasion. Such as the 2 Broke Chicks duo of Jane Harper and Chiaki Sanada.
The select people who were allowed to attend gave an applause.
Desiree Miles: How about... Crystal Alvarez and Tara Cabral?
The people cheer even louder.
Desiree Miles: Okay, okay, two for two! Let's see... Abby Parker?
The people cheer once more.
Desiree Miles: Let's see if we can four for four. How about... Kelly Hampton?
The crowd roars once more.
Desiree Miles: We're coming on strong. How about this one; two time Television Champion, Kelli Saint?
There is a large mixed reaction for the villainous "Killjoy".
Desiree Miles: The associations with Shannon Saint, Mariella Lopez and the Meat Prophets probably don't help any. Moving on to the show itself, my first guest this evening is known for her personality, primarily as a villainous but is coming into her own on the heroic side of things. She is the 2017 Cardinal City Pro non wrestling personality of the year… Kelly Hampton!
You know, I'm tired of all the aggression, huh
I just wanna sing songs like when we were kids, you know
You know that
Zamknij kurwa ryj!
I just wanna sing songs like when we were kids, you know
You know that
Zamknij kurwa ryj!
