OOC: I know this has been submitted a couple of hours late, I got my timezones mixed up, so feel free to discount it. But I started it, so I wanted to post it anyway.
--------------------------------------------
2 Weeks before the first Libertarian Wrestling Show.
Liam Reilly is lying passed out on the carpetted floor of his rented holiday home, with a solitary bedsheet covering him. He has an unlit cigarette in his mouth, and an empty bottle of beer in his hand. The sunglasses on his head are at an angle and his shirt is unbuttoned. Stevie Miller walks in with a glass of water and pats him on the cheek a few times to wake him up.
Stevie: Rise and shine champ. Big day today.
Reilly slowly opens his eyes and lets out a groan as the few rays of sunlight coming through the curtains near blind him.
Liam: What time is it?
Stevie: 3:30
Reilly starts up, nearly spring straight onto his feet from a lying down position. Clearly still quite drunk, he falls back over again. Stevie laughs at him and hands him, the glass of water.
Stevie: Get this down you, ya big idiot.
Reilly reaches unsteadily for the glass and just about manages to hold onto it. He takes a massive gulp and sits upright.
Liam: What happened to the last three days? The last thing I remember it was Monday. Now it's.....not.
Stevie laughs and picks up an empty champagne bottle and a large ziplock bag containing a solitary white pill.
Stevie: Booze, drugs and music my friend. In other words - one big party!
Reilly stares at the bag and then the bottle and looks distraught.
Liam: We've run out? Damn it. What are we gonna do tonight to drown my sorrows.
Stevie looks slightly confused
Stevie: Drown your sorrows? My friend we are gonna be celebrating. You're the talk of the island! You've been having the best parties all week! If that doesn't convince Leo that you're a changed man, well nothing will! Trust me - you're getting that job!
Reilly smiles unsurely at Stevie.
Liam: Thanks man. You're coming with me to talk to him right?
Stevie beams at Reilly, then throws his arms out, and shakes his head in mock disbelief.
Stevie: Of course I am you peahead. How else am I gonna deliver your report card to Prinicpal Leo?
Reilly looks worriedly at Stevie
Liam: Report card? You mean you've been working for him?
Stevie: Relax you putz. It's a figure of speech. I haven't actually been working for him, but once me and Casey give you a recommendation. I don't think he's gonna turn you down.
At the mention of their friend, Reilly looks around.
Liam: Where the hell IS Casey?
Stevie grins again
Stevie: If you thought you felt bad, times that by about 50. Casey's in bed still. He had female company last night and I think they killed him. He'll be ready to go with us though. You won't be though if you don't shape up. Get your ass in the shower.
Reilly gets up unsteadily and walks into the bathroom. While he has a shower, Stevie cooks up some bacon sandwiches. While they're cooking, Casey staggers into the kitchen to join him, wearing a beach towel and sandals.
Casey: How's Mr. Drinksalot doing?
Stevie: Not bad, a shower and a bite to eat and he'll be right as rain.
Just as Stevie plates up the food, Reilly enters the kitchen, dressed in a blue t-shirt and jeans. He spots Casey and grins at him.
Liam: I hear you had your work cut out for you last night, Casey my boy!
Casey takes a bite out of his sandwich before casually responding
Casey: And again this morning, and then about an hour ago.
A girl in a bikini and jean shorts walks through the kitchen. Reilly and Stevie look confused, but Casey just smiles at her.
Liam: I take it that was the "work"?
Casey: Oh yes. She was wild, I'm telling you. She asked me to do a line off her...
Stevie: EATING HERE!
All 3 men laugh and eat the rest of their food in silence, before retreating to their bedrooms and the scene ends.
----------------------------------------------
Later that night
Reilly, Stevie and Casey enter the Sampson Club, each dressed in a t-shirt and jeans. The club is once again filled with neon lights and "Connected" by Stereo MC's is playing over the sound system. Reilly goes up to the bar and buys 3 bottles of beer, handing one each to Casey and Stevie. They make their way over to the back of the club where Leo Hawkins is sat once again, in his own private booth. As they walk through the club, they all recieve high fives from the guys and hugs from the girls, some of them even try and entice them for a dance. Casey nearly gets dragged away by a pair of blonde Swedish girls, but Reilly lifts him onto his shoulder and carries him away, laughing at Casey's mock protests. When they reach Leo, he looks up with interest at them.
Leo: Still around then Liam. AND you've managed to avoid being killed by these two...don't tell me they've actually managed to change you? Oh do take a seat all of you.
Leo shuffles to one side of the booth, allowing the 3 friends to sit together. He looks at Reilly and addresses him.
Leo: I see people actually come up to you to slap fives and hug you now, rather than try to smash your teeth in like they used to!
Liam laughs and smiles at Leo.
Liam: Very true and, to tell the truth, having seen footage of me before, I'm surprised I have any teeth left. This has been the kick in the arse I needed. I'm not going back to the old ways again.
Leo nods with interest and turns to Casey and Stevie.
Leo: Well let's hope not. Is he a changed man now, boys?
Stevie and Casey smile at Reilly, then over at Leo.
Stevie: He's changed more than a chameleon in a ball pit. I haven't seen him talk down to anyone, I haven't seen him look uptight and I haven't seen him dress in one of those ugly ass suits, since we took him under our wings. The Liam Reilly you knew, isn't the Liam Reilly who's sitting in this booth.
A dark haired girl bounces over to the table and gives Reilly a hug and a kiss, taking him by surprise, nearly making him fall off the seat. When she releases him, Leo turns to her with a slightly confused look on his face.
Leo: Do you know this guy?
The girl scoffs mockingly at Leo.
Girl: Know him? This is the partyman of the island! Have you been living under a rock? Liam, when's your next party? They're the best!
Reilly looks apologetically at Leo then turns to the girl.
Liam: Tonight Kate, I promise. But show my friend Leo here a bit of courtesy. He's one of the good guys.
Kate: Sorry Leo. Anyway, we'll see you at yours tonight then Liam?
Liam: Sure thing Kate. See you tonight, about 12.
Kate squeals with glee, kisses Liam again, then bounces back off to join the rest of the crowd.
Leo looks at Reilly with an impressed expression on his face.
Leo: Well I don't know how you've done it, but I've gotta admit, Liam you're a changed man. I promised these two I'd consider you for LW if you changed your ways and I'm not a man to go back on my word. Consider yourself hired. Come to the head office with Stevie and Casey next week and we'll sort out contracts. Until then, look after yourselves.
Reilly, Casey and Stevie sit perfectly still with a look of wonderment and excited happiness on their faces. Then they break into a cheer and have a group hug piling on top of one another. Leo gets up to leave the club, and Liam notices.
Liam: Aren't you going to come and party with us Leo?
Leo smiles then shakes his head.
Leo: Not my scene. Have fun though boys, you've earned it.
Leo turns to leave before checking himself. He looks back at Reilly.
Leo: Oh, and Liam. If you end up back to your old ways, you'll be out the door quicker than Usain Bolt on Concorde. You understand?
Liam smiles
Liam: I understand Leo. Don't worry, I don't plan on that happening.
Leo and Liam smile at each other, before Leo turns around and leaves and Liam rejoins Casey and Stevie in celebrating and the scene ends.

Present Day
A commercial break ends and the camera cuts in to show the set of TV show "The Wrestling Round-Up". Liam Reilly is seated on a couch, opposite the host of the show, Simon Winterbourne, who is seated in an armchair. Reilly is wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, Winterbourne is wearing a white shirt and black trousers. Winterbourne looks into the camera directly opposite and begins to speak.
Simon Winterbourne: Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to the final part of tonight's edition of "The Wrestling Round-Up" with me, Simon Winterbourne. We close our show, as always, with "In The Spotlight" - a 1-on-1 interview with a past or present pro wrestler. Tonight, joining me tonight is 2-time former SCWE Tag-Team Champion, former PCW and WKF competitor Liam Reilly. Liam, thank you for taking the time out to join me.
Reilly smiles and nods at Winterbourne.
Liam Reilly: Not a problem Simon, happy to be here.
Winterbourne looks down at his questions and leans back in his chair.
SW: Now Liam, you've recently signed with new promotion Libertarian Wrestling, but I understand that it wasn't an easy negotiation process?
Reilly nods again and rubs his chin before responding.
LR: It certainly wasn't. As you might have noticed from watching PCW shows, I had an attitude problem from day 1 with them. Hell, I think the label arsehole is highly appropriate for how I behaved. But that wasn't just an on-screen character. I was like that backstage as well. I trod on everyone's toes and looked down at them because of where I'd come from. I felt that, because I had money and because I'd proven myself to a degree elsewhere, I should be accepted by the PCW and given what I wanted. And this obviously left a bad impression on Leo Hawkins, the head of LW. He flat out refused to give me a job.
Winterbourne looks somewhat confused.
SW: He refused to give you a job? But you're working for them now.
Reilly smiles at Winterbourne
LR: This is true and if I didn't know the story, I'd be as confused as you. Leo didn't want to give me a job. He said my attitude would bring down the locker room, but if it had been better, he wouldn't have hesistated to sign me. So he sent me away without a job. But luckily for me, the next people he spoke to about working for him were two men by the names of Casey Tanner and Stevie Miller. They convinced him that, with their help, I could become someone Leo would want to hire. So he gave them a week and in that week, they changed my attitude towards just about everything. At the end of it all, Leo was happy with what I'd become, as was I, and he decided to give me a shot, so he hired me to join Stevie and Casey. And here we are.
Winterbourne looks slightly surprised at this explanation of events, but nods his head and continues the interview.
SW: So the old Liam Reilly is no more?
LR: Correct Simon. When Leo rejected me for LW, I realised that I needed to change and thankfully Casey and Stevie were there. Thanks to them, I'm no longer The Icon. I'm no longer the guy looking down on everyone. I'm now the guy who speaks up when someone acts like I used to act. I figure if I can be redeemed, why is anyone else any different? And so I've stopped being The Icon, and I've become The Redeemer.
Reilly picks a bottle of water up from next to his foot, unscrews the cap, takes a swig and then replaces the cap, before putting the bottle back down. While this is happening, Winterbourne continues the interview.
SW: So how did you go from not even being signed, two weeks ago, to now being in the main event of the first ever LW show, competing for the Freedom Championship?
This question draws a beaming grin from Reilly, who leans back on the couch before answering.
LR: Honestly Simon, I have no idea. I guess I've earned it somehow, but I couldn't tell you when. The guys I'm taking on this Saturday are of a far superior pedigree to me, in terms of accomplishments. J.T. Banks is a legend, I think he's won more titles than I've had matches. Then, of course, there's Syn. Now unlike J.T. I've wrestled in WKF and I know how tough it is there, and the level of competition they've got there. Syn is their World Champion and that's one hell of an accomplishment. So compared to them, my 2 tag titles are minor. I never achieved much in PCW, so on recent form, I have no idea what I've done to make it into this match. But rest assured, I'm going to take the opportunity.
SW: You mentioned your opponents in this match, J.T. Banks and Syn. Which of them do you think is the biggest threat in the match?
LR: I don't think it can be simplified like that. I think they've both got different things to bring to the table and each has their own advantage. J.T. has power and experience and I know he's hungry to maintain his legacy. The man's a legend and that extra title would look pretty good in the history books. Now as for Syn, what he lacks in experience, he makes up for in killer instinct and straight up enigma factor. I doubt even he knows what he's going to do next. So I think taking one less seriously than the other in this match would be a seriously fatal mistake...in Syn's case probably literally.
SW: Well, I'm afraid that's all we've got time for. Liam Reilly, thank you for joining us here tonight on "The Wrestling Round-Up" and good luck in your match.
LR: Thank you Simon, it was a pleasure.
SW: Until next time Ladies and Gentlemen, I've been Simon Winterbourne. Thank you very much for watching, goodnight.
The credits roll and the camera fades out.
