(The scene opens up to a bedroom at night. It’s a rather large room as a king-sized bed sits in the center. There is a large window that takes up most of one wall and as it’s a clear night, moonlight shines through and that allows a pretty good view. A dresser leans against the wall, facing the bed, and a closet is to the right.
Just beyond the far side of the window, a shadowy figure can been seen. There’s not enough moonlight to make out what the individual looks like but it’s pretty easy to tell that this is a large person. They’re leaning up against the wall with their hands in their pockets. They’re staring right at the king-sized bed and you can hear grumbling underneath their breath.)
Shadowy figure: MICHAEL!
(The person in the bed moves around a little bit but has obviously not woken up.)
Shadowy figure: MICHAEL, do you hear me?
(This time, the person in the bed pops up and a closer look reveals that it’s true greatness himself, Michael Morrison. As Michael rubs his eyes and yawns, he looks over towards the window and squints.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Who’s over there?
Shadowy figure: You know who I am Michael.
(Michael couldn’t really tell who it was but for some reason, a sense of calm washed over him. Despite the fact that he couldn’t see his face or really identify his voice, Morrison just had a gut feeling that he knew this person.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: It’s the middle of the night. What do you want? Why are you in my bedroom?
(The shadowy figure laughed.)
Shadowy figure: I’m here to see if you’re ready. I’m here to see if you know the magnitude of what’s at stake when you step into the ring with Sickboy at Cataclysm for the PCW World Heavyweight Championship.
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Of course, I know what’s at stake. If I win, I become the man in Premium Championship Wrestling. It’s what I’ve worked for my entire life.
(The shadowy figure laughs again.)
Shadowy figure: Yeah, that’s all well-and-good but that’s not what I’m talking about. You see Michael, ever since Struggle for Power II, when Yoshiru Long defeated Leon Lonewolf to win the PCW World Heavyweight Championship, the fans of Premium Championship Wrestling…the people…have had absolutely NOTHING to cheer about. For virtually the entire 2011 year, they’ve seen guys that they put stock in come up short when it counted most. Guys like Mariano Fernandez…Nightrain…etc…etc…anytime they’ve rallied behind a guy, hoping to see someone take down the Elite, their dreams have been crushed. And when the belt finally gets removed from Long’s stranglehold, it goes right to another member of the Elite. The fans have lost hope Michael. The people have given up the notion that they will ever be able to cheer for a World Champion again. And now, with the PCW coming to a close after Cataclysm, they may never get that opportunity again. Do you get what I’m trying to tell you Michael?
(Morrison gulps hard.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Yeah, I believe I do.
Shadowy figure: Michael…Mr. True Greatness…I know this isn’t your first rodeo. I know that this isn’t your first time in a championship match. And I also know that for most of your tenure in Premium Championship Wrestling, you were as disliked as Long was. You were a prick Michael and just about everyone hated your guts. But things have changed, haven’t they? I believe you now see the error of your ways. Oh sure, it’s not going to happen overnight but the people need someone to believe in. They want to rise to their feet and clap as you hoist that big belt high in the air. Do you think you have what it takes Michael?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Of course I do. I’m true greatness.
(The shadowy figure can be seen rubbing his forehead and he grumbles under his breath.)
Shadowy figure: Enough with the clichéd bullshit Michael. I’m not some lowly opponent who you’re trying to intimidate. I want cold-hard facts. Why do you think you have what it takes to be the man who finally takes down the Elite?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: You want cold-hard facts? You want the absolute truth?
Shadowy figure: Yes I do because right now, I see nothing but a pile of shit.
(Michael slowly removes the covers and gets out of bed. He crosses his arms and shoots daggers into the unseen eyes of the shadowy figure.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: I’ll tell you why I have what it takes to take down Sickboy at Cataclysm and get the job done. For about a three-week stretch, I was humiliated, embarrassed and my pride took a major hit. In a very short span, I lost the PCW Platinum Championship and I got my ass kicked so many times that I’m lucky I’m not sipping my dinner through a straw. I was verbally and physically abused to the point where a lesser man might have cracked. A lesser man might have taken his ball and gone home. A lesser man would have vanished and never been seen from again. Do you follow me?
Shadowy figure: Go on…
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: I didn’t do that though. Oh sure, I’d be lying if I said the thoughts never crossed my mind. Laying on the mat, in front of millions of people, and being called a loser and worthless by Yoshiru Long at Slamathon II wasn’t exactly one of my finer moments. I was feeling pretty damn low and maybe even a small piece of me agreed with what Long said. But then something happened. Something clicked inside.
Shadowy figure: Yeah, what was that?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: As I walked out of my dressing room that night and prepared to exit the building, I got stopped by a young lady who was working there. I don’t know her name and probably never will but as I turned to her, she offered me words of encouragement. Here I was, one of the biggest pricks on Planet Earth, getting his comeuppance, and she told me to hang in there. That meant everything in the world to me.
Now maybe I was the lesser of two evils compared to Long but she didn’t have to say what she said. She could have simply snickered under her breath and moved along. I certainly would have deserved that type of reaction. But it was at that moment that I realized how lost I had become. It was at that moment that I realized what kind of asshole I had turned out to be. My parents didn’t raise me to act like that. They raised me to be respectful towards others. So I vowed from that point forward to change…and change for the better.
Shadowy figure: That’s a beautiful speech Michael but what does that have to do with wrestling Sickboy at Cataclysm?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: The point I’m getting at is this. I could have packed my things up and gone home after Slamathon but I didn’t. As hard as it might have been, I picked myself up and I created this opportunity for myself. I defeated Yoshiru Long at Rapture to earn this title shot and I followed that up with a win over Heather Monroe. I had the perseverance and determination to take down the Elite two weeks in a row and I’m going to make it a third when I beat Sickboy at Cataclysm. And I’m going to do it for two reasons.
The first reason is that I want to become the PCW World Heavyweight Champion more than anything on this planet. You see, when I first entered Premium Championship Wrestling, I made that my number one goal. I’m in no way, shape or form discrediting what I did during my time as PCW Platinum Champion…as I made that one of the most prestigious championships in the world today…but I always had my eye on the big belt. As true greatness himself, I always felt like I was the one who should be wearing that strap around his waist. I kept my mouth shut because it’s a cliché to come out your first day and tell everyone you’re a future World Champion but you better believe I had that on my mind. And now, at Cataclysm, I finally get my opportunity and I’m not going to blow it. Hell, I can’t. With the PCW closing its doors, I get one shot and one shot only. I’m not going to let it slip through my fingers.
Shadowy figure: Ok, that’s a good first reason. What’s the second?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: The second reason is exactly what you said earlier. I need to win this match for the PCW fans. Despite my ignorance and stupidity before, there’s no doubt that the PCW fans are the best in the world. They pack the house every time we show up and they deserve to cheer one final time before the doors close for good. The Elite have run roughshod over the competition for long enough and it’s time that I do what others couldn’t…take the big belt away from their possession.
Shadowy figure: What’s your plan?
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: My plan is to do what I’ve always done. Look, just because the chips have been down for me a little bit lately, don’t forget what I’ve accomplished. My win-loss record here in Premium Championship Wrestling is almost second to none. I’m a winner and I’m going to do what I do best…win. And don’t forget, I have defeated Long and Monroe two weeks in a row. It’s not like I fell off the horse and couldn’t get back on.
Shadowy figure: Ok Michael, you’ve done a pretty good job of convincing me that you’re focused and ready to go…
(At this time, the shadowy figure steps in front of the window and as the moonlight shines on him, you see that it’s an older version of…Michael Morrison. This version appears to be in his 60’s as wrinkles permeate throughout his face but the resemblance is still there. The current version of Michael stands there shocked.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: What the hell?
(The older Michael smirks as he walks over to where current Michael is standing.)
Older Michael: Michael, you’ve done a lot in your career. You will do MORE in your career. But I’m here to tell you that at Cataclysm, this will go down as the biggest match of your life. You’re wrestling for the most prestigious title in the world today…the PCW World Heavyweight Championship…and you’re wrestling for it for the final time before the doors get closed down. Millions of people have put their faith in you Michael…millions of people have put their trust in the fact that you’ll take down the Elite and let them cheer one final time. It’s not going to be easy. Sickboy is one of the finest in the business and he’s already announced that this will be his last match ever. He’s not going to go down without a fight. You’re going to have to be on top of your game. You’re going to have to bring 100% and then some. Are you ready? Are you ready to accept this responsibility? Are you ready to take claim of the PCW World Heavyweight Championship and let the fans relish in your victory?
(Michael smirks and nods.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Yes sir.
(Older Michael extends his hand and current Michael shakes it.)
Older Michael: This is your time Michael…this is your chance at the spotlight. If even for one night only, you can celebrate as the PCW World Heavyweight Champion…and the fans…well…they can go to bed with smiles on their faces…knowing that their hero accomplished what they wanted him to do. Good luck!
(As the camera focuses on the handshake, the scene fades to black.
The next day, after Michael woke up and remembered very vividly what he dreamt the night before, he hopped in his car and went to the one place that had the most meaning to him; the warehouse where he trained at Jack MiHaley’s school of wrestling. The place was still a dump, and ready to fall apart, but Michael still liked to go there when he wanted to think. As he entered the structure and began circling the main floor, he couldn’t help but smirk.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Well Sickboy, very shortly, you and I are going to headline the final show for Premium Championship Wrestling. It’s going to be you against yours truly for the PCW World Heavyweight Championship. Sounds like a pretty big deal and although you dismiss me as nothing more than someone who was trying to ride on the Elite’s coattails, I have no doubt that we’re going to put on one hell of a show.
Sickboy, you must be feeling pretty good about yourself right about now. I mean, after all, you’re the PCW World Heavyweight Champion and you defeated Yoshiru Long to get it. And on top of that, you had a successful title defense at Rapture against the man who you beat to get the title. But you know what? I get the distinct feeling that you’re a little too overconfident right now. You see, I can understand your good mood. I can certainly why you’re beaming right now. You’ve reached the pinnacle of your career. But before you ride off into the sunset, with the PCW World Heavyweight Championship belt draped over your shoulder, I think you need to realize something. And what you need to realize is that you’re dealing with true greatness himself, Michael Morrison.
You see, you, Long and the rest of the Elite have made me look pretty stupid here lately. You cost me the PCW Platinum Championship at Slamathon and have kicked my ass quite a few times lately. But like I’ve said all the other times, whether it’s to Israel Steele, Damon Warrens, etc…if you don’t completely take me out, you didn’t get the job done. Steele tried to put me on the shelf? It didn’t work. Warrens and James Baker tried to put me on the shelf? It didn’t work. And I’m here to tell you right here and right now that your attacks on me didn’t work either. You see, I’ve already started on the path to redemption. I defeated Yoshiru Long to get my title shot and I followed that up with a win over Heather Monroe…just for good measure. So now it comes to you and I…for all the marbles…on the final show produced by Premium Championship Wrestling.
(Michael smirks.)
“True Greatness” Michael Morrison: Sickboy, believe it or not, I respect your wrestling ability. And believe it or not, you’ve shown signs of actually being a decent human being. And there might be some people out there who will cheer for you because you’ve announced that this will be your final match. But make no mistake about it…I’m going to beat you at Cataclysm and I’m going to take your PCW World Heavyweight Championship. The Elite have had possession of the big belt for virtually all of 2011 and quite honestly, I think everyone is sick and tired of seeing it. While others have fallen short, I will not fall into that same trap. You see, I could stand here and say that it’s my destiny to win the World Title. I could stand here and say that it’s my dream to hoist the richest prize in professional wrestling. But I’m not going to do that. I’m just simply going to say that I’m going to win and there’s not a damn thing you can do to stop me. From day one, I’ve been out to show each and everyone what true greatness is all about. From day one, I’ve led by example and proven that I’m the measuring stick here. I’ve racked up wins and became the greatest PCW Platinum Champion in the history of this company. Well now it’s time to take it up a notch. Now it’s time to put the cherry on top. It’s time to reach the top of that ladder.
Sickboy, 2011 will go down as the year of the Elite. I won’t stand here and deny that your group hasn’t made an impact. Between Long, yourself, the Heathers and Storme…it’s probably the biggest collection of talent in the history of professional wrestling. But you know something…that doesn’t phase me one bit. You guys have kicked me and kicked me repeatedly but I got up. And at Cataclysm, I’m going to make sure that the last image that the PCW fans see is the Elite fallen and true greatness on top.
This is your last match? Good for you. I wrestled James Baker for his last match and you know what happened? He lost. I’m feeling a little case of Deja Vu coming on. Sickboy, you’ve had a nice career and I wish you well in the future but that won’t help you in the present. When the doors are closed and the record books are sealed for the final time, one thing is going to stand out….Michael Morrison is the PCW World Heavyweight Champion.
(As Michael smirks and continues to pace around the warehouse, the scene fades to black.)
Just beyond the far side of the window, a shadowy figure can been seen. There’s not enough moonlight to make out what the individual looks like but it’s pretty easy to tell that this is a large person.
