It was day break. The sun started to rise as the twilight faded from this mortal plane. As the sun rose higher and higher, it's warm life giving light entered the cave of the Xoltons, lighting the cave and waking it's residents up. All except for one. Brian was already awake. He sat on the ground in front of the tribe leader's hut and watched the tribe come to life. He watched as hunters returned from their hunt with fish, rabbit, bird, deer, and many others. The fact they hunted at night was fascinating to Brian. The whole society was interesting actually. Their ability to thrive whilst living deep inside this cave.
As Brian sat there, his trusty companion Milton next to him, he had time to think. He thought about everything in his life. Everything that has happened to him on this adventure. Everything that has happened to him in general. Was he making the right career choices? Was he making the right personal choices? He had no way of knowing, which he figured was just part of this quest.
Cadhilla: Morning Brian. Sleep well last night?
The daughter of the tribe's chief sat down next to Brian and gave him a warm smile.
Brian: Yeah, I feel a lot better now. Thanks for the hospitality.
Cadhilla: Oh it's not issue. It's our pleasure to help others.
Cadhilla gave Brian another smile as he gave a half smile back. Brian was starting to take a small liking to Cadhilla. It has been 3 days since his arrival to this strange town as they were more then willing to house him until he had the strength to continue on his journey. Every since then, Brian spent most of his day talking with Cadhilla. She was always asking about what life was like back home for Brian. It was odd, he never had to describe how he lived before, and no one ever found it as fascinating as her. It kinda made him laugh at times cause what he took for granted amazed the girl.
Cadhilla: Are you enjoying your time here?
Brian: Yeah, but i really think I should be going. I am no closer to finding a way home then 3 days ago.
Brian looked over at the girl who's smile was no replaced with a frown. Her long blond hair covering her green eyes partially. He hated to see her frown because over the past few days he has grown very fond of the girl, but it was time for him to move on and he knew that staying any longer was unfair to him, Cadhilla, and the rest of the villagers.
Cadhilla: Very well. Then let's go tell my father. The least we can do is offer you some supplies.
The two got to their feet as Brian picked up Milton. They walked into the hut behind them where Ryun, Cadhilla's father was sitting on the floor.
Ryun: Ah hello Brian. What's on your mind.
Brian: I'm planning on leaving the village to continue my journey.
Ryun: Very well then. We shall give you some food for the road. Is there anything else?
Brian: Yeah is there a different way out then the one I used? I want to avoid putting myself near that Jabberwocky.
Ryun: Yes there is. We have an exit that is meant for emergencies only but you can use. Meet me there in an hour. We will have your supplies ready by then.
Ryun got up and left the room, leaving Brian and Cadhilla in an awkward silence. The two stood there, not sure what to say.
Milton: Will someone say something already!? I can feel my shell growing!
Brian: Easy Milton. I guess I should start getting ready. I'll see you at the exit in an hour?
Cadhilla: Oh...yeah sure...
Cadhilla looked like she wanted to say something else but chose not to as she turned and left the hut, leaving Brian alone. Milton looked at his friend and shook his head in disappointment.
Milton: You are such a wieney.
Brian: What? What are you talking about?
Milton: That was your chance to kiss her!
Brian: Kiss her? What are you on?
Milton: Oh please! She clearly likes you! She practically throws herself at you and is fascinated by everything you say.
Now that Milton mentioned it, it made sense to Brian. Of course Brian being his clueless self never noticed it before. He was to preoccupied with figuring out how to get out of this cave and find a way to get himself home safe and sound with as little mental damage as possible.
Brian: Well what do you want me to do? I gotta leave so it's not fair to her to put her on.
Milton: Well is it fair to make her think there's a chance?
Brian: Dammit, why must you be right like always?
Milton: How many times do I have to tell you to get through that thick skull? I am your thoughts manifested in a physical form!
Brian: I never full agreed on that. You just keep saying and I get tired of arguing!
Milton: Well either way. You must talk to her before we leave.
Brian nodded and knew that he had to do that at least. When the hour closed, Brian arrived at the emergency exit that he would be using. It was Brian, Ryun, and Cadhilla. Ryun handed Brian a sack full of food and a bottle of fresh cave water. Giving the boy a pat on the shoulder, he smiled as he walked off to tend to other matters, leaving Brian and Cadhilla alone once again. The two fidgeted as Cadhilla looked at the ground.
Cadhilla: So this is good bye?
Brian: Sadly yeah.
Cadhilla: Will you ever come back?
Brian: Maybe. I don't know.
Cadhilla: Will if you do, this will be waiting for you.
Cadhilla stepped closer to Brian and gave him a deep kiss, while Milton smiled victoriously. Brian dropped Milton though as he wrapped his arms around the Xolton girl he was leaving. Milton landed upside down on the ground as he watched his friend make out with Cadhilla. Finally, when the two stopped kissing, they couldn't help but smile.
Cadhilla: Be safe.
Brian: I will.
Brian knelt down, picked up Milton, and grabbed his bag. He gave Cadhilla one last smile as he entered the cavern, heading towards the greater unknown.
Milton: Now isn't that better? Plus you got to kiss a beautiful girl!
Brian: I don't even know if they are real. Still haven't decided if this is just an elaborate dream or not.
Milton: Well if I'm here, should that prove that this is a dream?
Brian: Normally yes, but by now I'm so unsure anything is possible. Now where do I go?
Brian stopped walking as he looked around. He was confused on where to go as there were now several passages that he could take.
Milton: Don't tell me we're lost.
Brian: We're not lost....we gotta go this way...
Brian, making a completely random choice, picked the furthest to the right passage. As he walked down the rock path, he wondered where he was exactly. He kept making random choices hoping he was closer and closer to the exit of this cave.
Milton: Admit it, we're lost.
Brian: We are not lost!
Milton: Yes we are! I've seen that rock formation three times now!
Brian: Oh your right we're lost.
Brian plopped himself down on a rock and put his chin in his palm. He was now lost in a cave with very limited food and water. Once again he was facing his own death in the face.
Milton: Well it seems like the end of us.
Brian: What do you mean?
Milton: We're gonna die together.
Brian: No we're not. If I have to, I'm eating your turtle ass.
Milton: What?!
Brian: Oh come on your a turtle! It's not like you're a human.
Brian and Milton then spent the next 10 minutes arguing over the fact that Brian would eat Milton if he had to. They were so preoccupied by the argument they didn't notice the light glowing at the end of the tunnel.
Voice: Step into the light!
Brian and Milton instantly their argument and looked around wondering where the voice was coming from.
Brian: Who's there?
Voice: Step into the light!
Milton: Momma?
Brian: Momma?
Milton: My mother had the same voice!
Brian: You're an idiot.
Voice: Step into the light!
Brian: I'm stepping into no light! I like living even if it's in a cave!
Voice: Step into the light. You will not be harmed.
Brian look at Milton and shrugged.
Brian: Either trust the spooky voice or I eat you.
Milton: You are not eating me!
Brian: Then we're going into the light.
Brian got his feet and looked at the light at the end of the tunnel. Picking up his bag, he headed down the tunnel, as the light got brighter and brighter. He stopped right in front of the light and collected his breath. He took a big step forward as he entered the light. He wasn't entering a new part of the cave, but a all white room. In the center was a large pedestal. There was also a person kneeling before the pedestal.
Brian: Hello? Are you the person who was talking?
Woman: Yes. I am the Blind Seer. I brought you here to heed you a warning.
Milton: Seer? Warning? What'chu talking bout woman?
Seer: All will be answered. But first. Young one. What do you think of this world? Do you think it's dream or real?
Brian: Me?....uh......I don't know. It seems real but a dream at the same time.
Seer: That's because it is both. It is real and a dream. This world exists between the planes of reality and dream. What happens here will affect you in real life. Also dying here, means the end of you there.
Brian: Well that sure is calming. A real pep me up.
Seer: But do not fear. For I can tell you of the way that will get you home safe and sound.
Brian: But damn time! What do I have to do.
Suddenly the pedestal sprang to life as an image of a large temple appeared before them.
Seer: This is the Temple of Realities. Here you can find the way back home. But it will not be a safe trip. The road to the temple is dangerous and while only be more challenging the further you travel.
Brian: Of course. Anything else.
Seer: No. Now be careful young traveler. The road before is challenging, but you are more then capable of succeeding.
Suddenly a light filled the room, blinding Brian. When the light died down, Brian saw he wasn't in the room anymore. They were back in the cave.
Brian: I'm getting sick and tired of this world.....
Brian groaned as he walked down the cave wondering where he was gonna end up.
Brian: People talk about chances all the time. They talk about getting chances to prove themselves. Some complain they aren't getting an by means of backstage politics. They say that someone kissed as and got a spot, they felt they were more deserving of. I will not lie and say I'm not one of those people. Many times I have voiced anger at being passed over for a spot that I felt I deserved. However to be able to realize that you were not right for the job is what separates good wrestlers from bad ones.
The good ones can admit they are not ready for the big one. That they're not ready to carry the title and represent the company. To have the weight of the show all on their back. They can sit back and wait for their opportunity to carry the torch. And when that time comes, they grab the proverbial brass rings and they prove to the world that they are truly some of the best!
The bad ones can do none of these things. They demand to be pushed to the moon even though they can carry the torch. They can't be the one to represent a company. They are victims of their own narcissism and they can't see flaws in them. Flaws are what teach us. They make us better. To not see them is self destruction. Career suicide.
I will admit I have not been ready for the longest time. I have been waiting for my chance to take the main stage. I waited and honed my skills. I've sat in the shadows for when my chance came I would be 100% ready to show the world that I can run with the big dog. 5 years and I never been in a main event. 5 years I've been a wrestler and I never had to chance to show the world that I can be one of the top dogs of not only this company but any company ever.
I can be the best there is. I can be the best there was. I can the best that ever will be. I can go the distance and take on any man, monster, or god. Which leads me to this moment. The moment I've dream about. I have the main event facing the world champion himself. The monster from our childhood. Syn. The man who you never know if he's gonna shake your hand or drive you into the mat. The loose canon aspect of Syn makes him damn near impossible to scout.
When you face the monster you feared as a child, what do you do? Do you pray he destroys himself? Do you live in fear? No. You do known of these things. You stand tall. Stare him dead in the eyes and fight. You fight harder then you even done before. You charge into battle. You fight till you can't move. You fight till your body gives out. You fight till your tank empties. You fight to your legs give out. You fight till your bones turn to dust. You fight till your last breath escapes your lung.
That is how I'm coming to this match. I have no plans on winning. I have no plans on pinning the world champion. To say so would be insane as in, I have a very small window to be able to beat him. All I can say is I'm not backing down. If my fight against Curtis Wilkes last week, I showed everyone that I will never give up. I'd rather pass out before I tap out. And I will come with the same mentality this week. I will never tap out. I won't say I quit. I'm not gonna get pinned, counted out, DQ'd, none of it. They only way to beat me is to get me carried out by medical personal. And no one ever carries me out. I will always walk out of that ring on my own two feet. For accepting help means I was defeated. And I can never be truly defeated as long as I have air in my lungs, and a fire in my heart. A fire that will never go out. A fire that burns hotter then anything on this planet. A fire that fuels me to be the goddamn best wrestler this company has ever and will ever see!
So Syn I am coming for you. Prepare as I am bringing this war to you. I am a God of War and I will revel in the blood of battle. I am not backing down. I am not giving up. I am gonna fight till the end of the universe. This just a match. This isn't just a main event. This is Main Event War.
Brian continues his path looking for the exit. Just ahead of Brian lies a dead end. He looks at the wall in anger as he was led down a wrong path again, however, upon inspection he discovers that the wall has a ladder on it. Looking up, Brian sees that the ladder leads to what appears to be a secret door. Getting excited at finding the exit, Brian quickly climbs up the ladder. When he reaches the top, he unlocks the latch and slowly lifts the door. He pokes his head through to see that he has found a way out of the cave. He throws the door open and pokes his head out smiling ear to ear.
Brian: Bout damn time I got out of that cave!
Brian then hears the sound of guns being cocked. He also realizes he wasn't alone in the room. There was now 25 guns all pointed right at his head by a group of what appeared to be pirates.
Captain: And what do we have hear? A thief?
Brian: Oh fuck.
